Re: I guess it's official

It seems that from now on every CW release will be atleast 70bucks a piece. glad I got most of their models at under 60, as I dont have any plans in getting the F-8s.

I've heard that the F-8 will be their most detailed model to date. I can't wait for it!

Since they have only been around for a year, I think most of their models are yet to come.
Does $59.99 plus tax plus shipping qualify for under 60.
Make you wonder how much these models will be costing a few years down the road.
Will a newbie collector in 2010 pay $100.00 retail to get into the hobby?

Probably - I got into this Hobby 10 years ago and paid $70 for a new 1/72 scale Corgi Lancaster when it first came out! What are they now - $120?

Ah Slide you were a kid spending your paper route money right? Up here the bloody Corgi heavies go anywhere from $130, - $170.

Re: I guess it's official

The way I look at this whole thing, $70 bucks for the new F-8 diecast ain't that much of a King's ransom to pay considering it's already a finished product
were you don't have to mess around with glueing/painting/decaling and expending blood-sweat and tears....blah, blah, blah!

I hope that doesn't translate to an exhorbitant price over here (England), WHEN they are released (the F.8, that is).

Haven't seen the A.7 Corsair yet; only in pictures & it looks mouthwatering.

If the F.8's as good, I'll buy EVERY release they do !!!!!!!!!!!

Quite happy with C.W. sticking with U.S.Navy so far, as they're doing stuff that's unique (so far).

I'm with you, Hornchurch, regarding the F-8s...and CW's model choices have definitely been unique except for the F-14 of course. I really want a Vigilante!

Re: I guess it's official

So I know the price increase isn't desirable. But from a retailers perspective, we just have to follow their rules to sell their products. The increase makes sense with the value of the dollar being lower and material prices/shipping up. It will be interesting to see the effect of it. For us, we are just going to ship them free until we can no longer afford to do so....hopefully that will make the price increase easier to bare.

Well, will just have to see, might change my mind and for variety purposes might get one of their F-8s, but for me they are not like the Tomcats, and Superhornets which i have multiple of. as I center my collection mainly on F-14s-F-18s, and plus a few variety Jets like the A-10s, A-4s. The A-6s and A-7s (Just to complete the Nimitz series )

Smartd

We do have local CW distributor here, but It remains to be seen wether or not he will have stocks at the end of this month. so all of my CWs here are from overseas Japan, US and UK. and according to my computations,( Philippines Shipment ) the shipping cost from the US is around 25% of the total volume, Japan ( HLJ ) is at 17%, but their prices is 10% more expensive than the US prices, dont know why, as CW is suppose to be a Japanese Company.

so given all these circumstances, my CWs here are more or less around 70bucks a piece, which is still way cheaper, as Im used to buying 1:18 Formula One race cars at around $75-$85, and some toys which are $150 or more.

I am still new to the aircraft diecast, have a few dragons here which I bought 2years ago, and thanks to David, who introduced me to CW models. and regarding to the future of these hobby, well your guess is as good as mine, on the prices that new collectors will pay a few years from now.
