Re: I guess it's official

Anyone know what improvements Century Wings is going to make to their mould? I sure hope that it is worth the $10 price hike. I wish that they add the following pitot tube to their mould. The only major (exaggeration) inaccuracy that was easily visible to me.

FIGHTERPILOT1:

Quote from TheMotorpool:

"Century Wings will apparently offer a new version of the F-14D Tomcat, once again based upon a bird attached to the VF-84 "Jolley Rogers"

VF-84 was decommissioned not long after the Navy got B's and D's and they never got them. VF-103 Jolly Rogers got B's not VF-84 and definitely not this scheme.

I did notice that, as Witty has that sensor on their Tomcats but messes everything else up.

.
Note it says "THIS NEW VERSION ISN'T SIMPLY A REHASH.....WE HEAR THAT THEY'VE IMPROVED FIDELITY, MAKING IT EVEN MORE DETAILED THAN ITS PREDECESSORS."

And what else would they say? We're cranking out another 1000 or so and raising the retail to cash in on demand?

Re: I guess it's official

I can think of a way to improve it: replace the rubber aerials and pitot tubes with photo etched metal and remove the flashing in the main gear. If CW did this, I would pay $80.00 for it.

True, the launch bar on the nose gear is all wrong (probably my biggest complaint with the CW's). A more accurate launch bar would be nice. And that missing tube that was pointed out (if the Tomcats had it at that time, not sure).

Re: I guess it's official

I already have 210 but I got sucked in an pre-ordered. I don't know that I really need/want it but I guess at least I'll have the option of cancelling or selling it at some point. Maybe this will be my first investment piece... In any case I have 6 months to figure out how to pay for it.

Re: I guess it's official

Flightonemodels.com has a pic of it. Looks the same as the others to me. As for the missing "probe"---that's the temperature sensor. AFAIK all F-14's have always had it.

Re: I guess it's official

Hope that's a sample----the tailfins say "10" instead of "01".

Re: I guess it's official

noticed that too. I wonder if they just photoshopped the nose and wings of a 210.
