Question A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

I got an email from Flyingmule stating that in-stock and pre-order Century Wings A-7s are $69.99. However, on their website, all CW jets are still $59.99. I assume it's a mistake on the email, but then again, it may be a price hike that hasn't shown up on their website yet. I didn't try to order a CW, but I thought I'd mention just the same.

I have been hearing that the price will go up $10.00 when the F-8 comes out.

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

Badcat has the A-7 Sidewinders pre-order at $57.99, but the other CWs are at $59.99-----except the A-6 Last Flight which is $80.
Fortunately, I got my A-6 Last Flight for around $52.

STARMAN352ND:

I wonder if that possible $10 increase is due to the low dollar.

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

I have heard it is due to packaging cost increases and raw materials cost increase.. The 69.99 MSRP should not start until the New F-8 and F-14 Jolly Rogers and then thereafter everything will have 69.99 MSRP

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

If the F-8's going to cost 70 bucks, it better include 2 complete wings for wing-up and wing-down. The F-8 is too small and with no drop tanks, recon pods, targeting pods, and minimal armament, cannot justify costing as much as the much larger and more "value-packed" A-6 and F-14. That, or Century better start pricing based on size of the plane and how many "goodies" it comes with, like most other diecast manufacturers. An F-14 with a full bomb load should cost more than an empty T-38, for example.

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

As you guys mentioned, the CWs are going up in price starting with the F-8. Shipping, material and development costs were the reasons cited. CW will institute a minimum advertised pricing system. I'm mixed about the idea. Being a retailer, I like being competitive and giving low prices. On the other hand, it will level the playing field. I hate when fly-by-night people show up and drop a bunch on Ebay or a new site for really low prices for no good reasons (clearance and specials are different). It reduces demand and collectability for everyone. That loss of collectability trickles back to the manufacturer and results in less overall sales for all, hurting our hobby.

That being said, the first A-7 is a hot seller! I expect that we will be out of stock by the end of the month!

Someone please explain this to me (I am a little slow sometimes): I work in the automotive industry and although we establish an MSRP (Manufacturer's SUGGESTED Retail Price), ultimately a Dealer can sell a car/truck for whatever price they see fit (even below actual cost). In fact, it is illegal for us as a manufaturer to engage in any sort of price setting with retailers. How then firm's like Apple and apparently diecast manufacturers institute a minimum advertised price for their retail outlets (with universal adherence). It's appearently legal as Best Buy, Circuit City and Wal Mart sell iPods for pretty much the same price (so too with most diecast), but I have always wondered why the double standard?

The only thing that I can think of would be requirements set by state franchising laws for auto dealers. Any expert insights?

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

I gotta tell you...I thought $60.00 was steep! Now...I have bought at least two versions of each CW model so far but at $70.00 I think I could barely justify one of each version. CW is the best but they are getting too expensive for me. I may have to limit myself to one version from now on. Thank God for HM!
