Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

an alternative, Al (aluminum) which is cheaper by about 20% could be used and great detail can be obtained using the etching process. I don’t know all of the differences in the casting process of Zinc compared to Al, but I am sure it could be worked out. The models would be slightly lighter, but the quality and detail could be great.

Personally, I would welcome more detail, lighter weight and lower cost in my die cast planes. I am tired of wobbly plastic stands and plastic landing gear that collapses under the weight of heavy aircraft. Plus the planes would actually be made out aluminum just like the real things!

Yeah I agree on aluminum aspect. We have received some Penske Racing #2 and #12 cars in 1/24 scale
and they have bodys made from stamped sheetmetal instead of diecast what a weight difference..+ cheaper in price by about 15.00

Re: $69.95---Jolly Rogers, Crusader, A-7

I'm still surprised the F-8 is being offered (and people are preordering it) without even knowing what type of F-8 it is, much less what squadron and scheme.

Perhaps it has something to do with the allure of the F-8 being more sought after by folks who can't wait to get their hands on this baby?

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

David, it is odd that collectors are pre-ordering the F-8 without knowing what model or livery it'll be. Count me in that crowd. However, if I don't like what finally comes out I can always un-pre-order. What's your preference?

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

Well, my point is:

A ton of people pre-ordered the VA-82 A-7, only to later cry out "I wish I'd waited for the VA-86 or VA-25 scheme and now can't afford to get one of those". Now, people are ordering the F-8 without having a clue what it is, and we'll see the same thing when people complain that the 2nd or 3rd release is the one they really want, but now can't afford. (Especially with F-8's being 70 bucks--which is insane for a plane with only 2 underwing pylons, no droptanks, no large missiles, and no pods---paying more for less "things to attach")

Re: A-7 Corsair II----$69.99?

If the A-7s and F-8s will be going for 70 bucks a pop, how much will future issues of the F-14 and A-6 go for?

Why...80 bucks a pop of course! It's totally ridiculous.
