Re: VA-86 Sidewinders

Hi all A-7 fans,

This may be old news that nobody cares about, but if you are interested, there is an excellent 5 part Wings TV special featuring the A-7 on YouTube, Part 1 is here YouTube - Corsair II Vought A-7 - Documentary part 1 of 5.

You should be able to search and find the remaining 4 parts.

I have looked around for the complete set of the Wings programs on DVD to no avail, anyone know if the series was ever released on DVD????

Check it out, the show has only increased my desire to get one of the century Wings models, but man, they 'aint cheap

Re: VA-86 Sidewinders

Hi guys,

Yes David, there was quite a bit of F-8 information in that film, this was an aircraft that I was not really too interested in and was somewhat indifferent when the model was announced by Century Wings, BUT now after learning more about the F-8 from that video I'm definitely going to place it on my wish list.
The A-7 information was quite interesting as well, and honestly the Corsair was not an aircraft that I was very familiar with, always more interested in F-4 and F-14. But once again quite surprised to learn about the A-7's advanced capabilities and truly stellar career, so I last night pre-ordered one of A-7 Sidewinders.

Hey flyXwire, thanks for posting the links, a lot of great video and information in those Wings series.

I recall watching the Wings series on TV many years ago, maybe back in the early-mid 1990's, I have been trying to find DVD's of the Wings documentary series and have not had any luck. Anyone know if that series has been released on DVD ???

Century Wings certainly has raised the bar for producing a quality diecast aircraft, they are not inexpensive, certainly worth it though due to the sheer quality of the product.

In my humble, newbie, diecast collector opinion, from what I have seen Century Wings really does produce the finest diecast aircraft. It will be interesting to see what the next aircraft will be after the F-8 and if they can keep it going for an extended period of time.

Re: VA-86 Sidewinders

Hey, I got my VA-86 Sidewinder the other day and I have no idea how to attach my FLIR pod. The instructions say it'll fit at the same station as the fuel pods but there isn't a rack to hang it on. Could the fuel pod racks be interchangeable and fit on the FLIR pod? I didn't want to risk breaking it so I searched on here. Thanks.

P.S- Does the AGM-45 Shrike even use IR to track? I thought it was anti-radiation .
