A little birdie told me!

I was told today from a good source there will be another USA exclusive limited run from Century Wings featuring the Jolly Rogers. Not sure when it will be released or exact production numbers. Hopefully more info to follow.

This sounds as if it may be my only chance. I am going to wait. Thanks Kingpin.

Re: A little birdie told me!

As in, more VF-84 F-14A's of the late 70's, or something new like low-vis VF-103 F-14B's of 2003?

Re: A little birdie told me!

They would not elaborate any more than what I was told. My guess is that it will be a regular paint with different planes numbers.. I did hear the production could be lower thou. Probably cheaper to do a low production run with existing paint than to do a new paint scheme..

My thoughts

Re: A little birdie told me!

Of course, they could give us something new that would be cheap due to re-using artwork:

A low-vis VF-101 F-14D. They wear the exact same pattern and markings as the high-vis one, it's just grey instead of black and red. They could use the same artwork etc, they literally just need to "put a different color of paint in the tampo machine". It would cost them almost nothing to develop.

Re: A little birdie told me!

I hope they re-issue the VF-111 bird, this time with the 1990 markings (Miss Molly pin-up on the starboard side only).

Re: A little birdie told me!

Glen,
I heard the same rumor. We should hear something soon. Appearantly they noticed that collectors are still interested in the Jolly Rogers models after they saw an AJ210 going for $265 on Ebay last Christmas!

Re: A little birdie told me!

Ok guys,

This would be very good news for me personally, as I have been trying to find one for quite some time. They are extremely popular, I would get two myself. I would imagine that they still have all the paint and supplies and would be able to crank out a few hundred in no time at all.

Which brings me to another subject, it would fascinating to see how the Century Wings models are made and painted. The details and markings are so well done, I for one would like to see how they do it. I wonder if much of the work is by machine painting or possibly a lot of hand work ????
