Question no more F-14s, A-6s?

Has Century Wings finally discontinued its repaints of F-14s and A-6s in favor of A-7s and F-8s?

Re: no more F-14s, A-6s?

Why would they go through all the time/expense to tool up the unique parts for an F-14B/D, then only ever release 1 D-model? It'd be a waste (and tragedy) if we NEVER got a single B-model. Or any other D-models. (And of all the D-models to do, they picked 101 final demo?)

Re: no more F-14s, A-6s?

Don't worry about additional F-14 or A-6 releases. Century Wings will milk their tooling for as much as they can get out of it. Keep in mind, however, that these diecast companies do not have infinite financial resources. In order to avoid over saturating the market and maintain collector demand, and in order to have the money to develop new toolings for the A-7 and F-8, CW has temporarily tabled repaints of their older toolings. Also keep in mind that the economic meltdown here in the US is driving down demand for diecast collectibles overall. I guarantee we have not seen the last CW F-14D or A-6.

Re: no more F-14s, A-6s?

I would agree with the assesment above. I think however, while the demand is there, they should try to take advantage of it. There are a few models not sold out yet on the CW website, I am sure that is driving them to be cautious about certain releases as well not over saturation their customer base. It is a start up company and the cost of popping out so much with overhead in the beginning can be a bit daunting as well. I am surprised at the number of models coming out so fast at this point. Nice to see.
When working in China, a number of factories there tend to give really good service at the beginning and then let up a bit. If CW is seeing a quality control issue, and this is usually when you start to see such, it can slow down production as well. So I would give them time, they have done a tremendous job already.
