Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

Knowing that 99% of diecast models are based off of plastic kits, some googling brought up this:

Now that is one good looking airplane.

Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

Well just pre-ordered this model. It will be my first CW, not much for tail burners, especially anything modern, have a few but I generally collect props. But I have always liked the A-7 and can't wait for the F-8. Really hope they come out with a Nam scheme.

Where is all the ink?

It's so clean...and green.

Me gusta mucho.

Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

I see CW has announced their next A-7 is going to be VA-25 Fist of the Fleet NE400(another CAGbird, natch).....I might have to get this to park alongside my Draggin' VFA-25 F/A-18

Hey Skunky, is Dragon's VFA-25 F/A-18 tail painted black or dark green?

Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

Is black correct for this Hornet's tail or should it be dark green too?

Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

not meaning to sound negative, but I do prefer that there is not color around the cockpit. It just takes a little away from the shape(profile) of the aircraft IMHO. I like the version on the far left better. Still, after 3 releases I am glad I waited and chose the last one as the one to best represent the type among my other models.

Be careful, Louie, the 4th one may be even better! They hooked me and I've ordered them all so far!

Re: Cw Va-25 A7-e

VFA-25 used black. VA-25 used dark green. All the models so far are correct.

That scheme for VFA-25 isn't black because "it's VFA-25". It's black because at the time (1990-91), VFA-25 was in Air Wing 14. Don't know why (but it sure looked cool) but every squadron in the wing painted their CAG planes similarly. They all had pure black tails with rainbow stripes on top---regardless of the squadron's "real" colors. Decal showing all the tail markings of the wing: http://www.amv83.fr/Navycag/decal/72260superscale.jpg

Now, ever since then, VFA-25 has often used black tails---apparently they liked it and kept doing it. I would love to have some more planes from CVW-14 of that era, to have "matching" F-14/18, A-6, EA-6, A-7, etc.
