Re: I got my VA-82 A-7!! What a beauty!!

How does this work?... Does the Flying Mule then distribute Century Wings products to all of the US retailers?

That's a good question... I think I read somewhere that the Mule is CW's N. America distributor. Zed should know.

They also service Canadian retailers.

Overall it looks as though CW scores another hit with just a couple of nits to pick that I can see. The sucker seam that you already mentioned really is an eyesore and is rather disappointing, but not a deal-killer...

That seam really sux.

Thumbs up Re: I got my VA-82 A-7!! What a beauty!!

My A-7 arrived yesterday and to say this CW issue is anything but awesome is to do both CW and the model a great disservice. Even though I planned on leaving the A-7 in its packaging until I returned north next month, I couldn't resist temptation and took a really close look. Boy, am I glad I did. Andrew did an outstanding job with his photos so I won't go there. As for imperfections, well you have to be a super-dooper rivet counter, First Class, to be disappointed with this offering from CW. The A-7 now joins my two other CW offerings: F-14A VF-154 and A-6E Intruder, VA-35. I can hardly wait for the A-8. What the hell, it's only my nursing home money I'm spending.

As to the cost for future CW offerings, e.g., the A-8, you know the price isn't going south anytime soon. For a retiree like me, on a fixed income, any price increase by any die cast builder spells bad news writ large. For me it means fewer selections and harder bargain hunting, but if I want to play I gotta pay.

This baby is a beaut for sure! As usual, another A+ for Century Wings! I'm not sure if my personal hangar space can keep up with all the sweet releases this spring!

Cheers,

Colin

Both VA-82 & VA-86 are showing in stock on a couple of UK retailers!

Think I may wait for VA-25 though.

Re: I got my VA-82 A-7!! What a beauty!!

oh, and one thing to note, there is no separate pylon for the targetting pod. BUT you can detach the ext fuel tank from its pylon and replace it with that

Yes indeed, it is possible - but both fuel tanks of my Corsair were glued on to their pylons - I was lucky I did not destroy something !!

By this occasion: (regarding the MER´s, once again, David please help!): shall the upper bombs on the MER´s show to the inner or to the ouboard side? CW´s website depicts them showing to the inner side, which I can hardly imagine to be correct??

Re: I got my VA-82 A-7!! What a beauty!!

Either way is ok, though having the bombs outboard seems much more common. (I have photos of both ways used with Shrikes) ::edit:: The photos showing the bombs loaded inboard, have no drop tanks. COULD be a clearance issue. But more likely AFAIK, it's simply an "ease of loading issue". If they NEED to have the bombs right next to the drop tanks, they can. (same as an F-15's AMRAAM vs Sidewinder arrangement)

PS--the Shrikes come off their launchers very easily, if you'd like to have some empty pylons. Though there's no "alternate" load. The Bullpup also uses the Shrike launcher, but Bullpups are so old I don't think the A-7 ever carried any. (nor did the F-8, despite that being the reason for the F-8E's wing hump) (I just got my first A-7 yesterday)
