Re: Movie birds

not to mention the words "Wolf Pack" written on the helmet haha

Re: Movie birds

I wonder what they thought the impact would be if they had actual F-14 markings. Would they have thought, "The russkies would single them out just because they were in a movie!" or "Look! Its an Iceman! Get him! Look over there! its another Iceman! and another one! Boy are we having a field day today! Don't worry about those Maverick planes. They'll be too busy sulking in their cockpits!"

Re: Movie birds

For folks here on the forum, there are plenty of "real" brids we would all love to see more. For the general public, movie tie-in's are probably a big seller.

Personally, I'd rather have a real life bird anyday.

I know this is a way late reply but I believe the producers basically just picked squadron insignia they liked, even though they were an F/A-18 and an E-2 squadron.

Re: Movie birds

I think several fictitious airplanes would be kinda cool in 1/48 scale diecast.

What about a F/A-37 Talon (the Navy jet from "Stealth") and the MiG-31 Firefox?

A little OT but fictional aircraft from books are cool, too. Imagine Dale Brown's EB-52 Megafortress as a diecast (any scale)!

Re: Movie birds

I voted no...and I am amazed that licenses are required to reproduce actual "in use" aircraft depicted in the movie "Top Gun" (oops, can I print those words without paying a licensing fee?) according to David. Are licenses required to make models from any movie that had footage of actual "in use" aircraft including "The Final Countdown" and historical documentaries?

Re: Movie birds

I could go for a Dr. Strangelove B-52- as long as it included H-bombs and the Slim Pickens action figure!!!
