It all depends on the paint schemes offered...

It depends on the schemes but I reckon at least two F8s. I already have one A7 on pre-order.

Re: How many CW F-8's will you get?

The Last Of The Gunfighters? All of them < lol >

Not to be a kill joy but with all the hype over the last gun fighter stuff I did a little research & I found some very interesting facts (sorry guys),
If you go back & looks at the historical records the majority of the F-8's kills in Vietnam were done with sidewinder missiles & even one with a Zuni rocket.
May have been last of the gun fighters but rarely did it get a ATA kill with them. I also read that F-4's with guns pods made made more gun kills than F-8's did. Though this may have been purely due to the fact there were a greater number F-4's in the war & they served much longer.

Now they everybody hates me LOL.
The F-8 was a great aircraft & a personal fav, I will probably add more than one to my collection as long as I like the paint scheme's.
But I have once question, CW seems to have a issue with Vietnam war era colors on their models in the case of the A-6 & first two A-7's.
The only F-8's that served post Vietnam with US forces were photo recon birds. Does that mean CW will finally break it's anti Vietnam run & give us some combat birds or will be be stuck with foreign AF & recon F-8's only?.

Please don't only do recon birds...combat birds are much more interesting in my opinion.

I don't think a recon bird can be made from this mold. Correct me on this if I'm wrong David H, but I think you said in an earlier thread that the "E" version mold couldn't be adapted to make a recce bird...

Re: How many CW F-8's will you get?

Zed said they wouldn't do the mold. You need all-new everything forward of the main gear bay forward bulkhead. (that's where the split is on the real one). Well, you can reuse the canopy of the fighter version, but that's about it. Even the landing gear is different.

Re: How many CW F-8's will you get?

1 of each probably but I want a really iconic scheme or one with a great story. Not too sure what that might be but I'll know it when I see it. Not in a rush and no PO for me on either of these. Might even settle for a cast off or sale if nothing ends up really floating my boat. I can wait 2-3 years for either of these.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

Have to agree with Rush and the other folks here. Let's see what they have to offer.

Re: How many CW F-8's will you get?

I hope they don't come with ordnance slung under the wings. If so, hopefully the hardpoints will be attached as insecurely as the F-14s cuz I'm yankin' those suckas right off....Sidewinders only on my F-8...

Too bad this mold won't allow John Glenn's "Project Bullet" aircraft to be made- that's one I'd pick up for sure.
