Re: A-6E Intruder VA-115 Last Flight **PICTURES**

It's the "Last Flight" because that's the last A-6 flight IN JAPAN. Which is where all the models come from (both plastic, and Century's design).

Century's NF100 VF-154 is also the "Last Flight" for the F-14 (in Japan). You'll find tons of "Last Flight" model kits in Japan, and it's always the last flight of a plane/squadron out of Atsugi, not the last flight of that type in the world etc. Those kits/schemes/planes are pretty well-known in Japan, so that's part of the reason Century does them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Last Flight" F-8. But it'll be the last F-8 to leave Atsugi, not the last F-8 in the reserves in the US.

And yes, this is a replacement CAG plane, as Japan (accidently) shot down the previous one shortly before the squadron left. This one was quickly painted up for the final flight.

Shot it down?! How did that happen? The model does look good and has a cool load out different from the other releases.

Re: A-6E Intruder VA-115 Last Flight **PICTURES**

The A-6 was towing a gunnery target behind it for a Japanese destroyer to test out its CIWS on. Well, it either missed the target, or locked onto the wrong thing (with how accurate a CIWS is, probably the latter) and shot down the A-6.

That particular A-6 was apparently named "Christine" (after the car) for it had crashed 5 times, and was shot down the 6th.

Picked this up tonight at local store. They also had the Marine Moonlighters. Both very nice models.

Yeah, Modeller's Choice get all the CW models. Waiting now for the A-7's to come in, (soon).

I have AJ and this latest one. I'll leave the Moonlighters for other folks. They are all very well done.
I lean towards AJ because I used to see them all the time at NAS Oceana.

I picked up Moonlighters instead of this one but you just can't go wrong with either one. I think these are among the nicest models out there.
