New CW A-7E announced!

While the Model Hangar was shut down, Century Wings announced a new A-7E release-- VA-86 the "Sidewinders". Nimitz, 1978. Reservations are already sold out-- so it says on the CW website.

I wish we would hear something more about the F-8's-- release dates and schemes??

Re: New CW A-7E announced!

Just like to point out that I believe the markings they're doing are from 1977, not 1978. Could be 1978, but regardless, they are not how that plane appeared in "The Final Countdown". (yes, if you're really picky, it would not be correct to display this with your Century VF-84 planes due to a nearly 2-year scheme difference----but it's PERFECT for displaying with VF-41)

I'm guessing they went with 1977 due to them being a bit more colorful, even for non-CAG planes. I'd prefer a non-CAG though.

Hey Zed--how come Century seems to have stopped doing multiple planes in a single scheme? Earlier, we had FOUR different VF-84 planes, two from VF-154, and two from VA-35. But only one from VF-41, VA-82 and now only one from VA-86? I'd much rather have a non-CAG VA-86 plane, and kinda expect it based on their earlier history, but lately it seems we only get one, and that's it.

Good point. I would particularly like to see multiple F-8's from the same squadron. I am afraid that is something I could not resist. They could do two or three Mig-killing F-8E's from VF-211 in the 1966-67 time-frame. They could probably do the same for VF-24 in roughly the same period.

The reason they had 4 VF-84's are because the first ones sold out so quick and many missed out....I for one

This is pre-ordered and will be the first CW bird for me. I thought it would be the F8, but with no news on release dates.... Still, this "Don't Tread On Me" livery beats the Marauders.

I thought that was the Motto for the VF-102 Diamondbacks?
