Re: F-4 Phantom from CW?

there is plenty of room in the market for more phantoms probably the most used fighter worldwide just needs a bit of commonsense from the manfacturers to not tread on each others toes!
GA produce F-4M/K,HM F-4B/C/D/J/N/S then somebody else to provide E/F/G/DJ other export versions then the RF series.
plenty of airforces and schemes to keep everyone happy with runs kept to 500/1000 peices worldwide.

Okay - a little more info coaxed out of zed...CW will evidently be doing the F-4E/F/G/DJ/RF. Cool! But I think he got that backwards since HM already announced an F-4D and F-4J.

Using that criteria, when are the F-5s and early Mig-21s coming?
F-5s were built in lesser numbers, but used by far more countries. And the MiG-21's production was nearly double that of the F-4, and again, far more countries used it.

Re: F-4 Phantom from CW?

Funds allowing I can honestly see mysef buying 10-15 Phantoms . I will probably sample one each from the different manufacturers and choose which will be the company I buy the bulk from. A comprehensive Phantom collection will probably take 3 or more years to collect as the makers pump out favorite schemes and configurations.

I thought the F-16 was the most exported American fighter ever? My bet is something Russian will probably hold the title as the most widely used fighter in the world (Mig-21,or perhaps the Mig-29?)

Re: F-4 Phantom from CW?

F-16 has 25 users (USA counts as 1).
F-5 has 34.

(These are quick checks from single, good sources) I have little info on Russian planes. I'm good at identifying subtle Flanker variants, but that's about the total of my Russian plane knowledge.

Re: F-4 Phantom from CW?

hey guys not saying that century will do a phantom just that there is room for another company to do the other versions.
i did discuss the F-4 with yoshi last summer and at that time knew that gemini would produce the F-4K/M and that HM were thinking about an F-4 aswell so suggested he may consider doing a different version than the rest.
yoshi is a good friend of people at HM.
