Sold out? Don't think so.

We have all come to appreciate the offerings from CW and prattle on about how quickly they sell out.
I have been checking some diecast sites today and found everything except VF84 #200 and VF84 210.
Yeah, I have mine, for a total of 5 F-14s and 1 A-6.

So what does it mean when the retailers really are not sold out of such limited production numbers?

I remember the thread about the hype and hysteria surrounding these releases, was it all just that?

As an example check Aikens.

Re: Sold out? Don't think so.

I've tried looking for #202 and only been successful with dealers overseas in Europe and Asia. Do you know of a dealer that has it in stock here in the states?

I think the only ones you have to worry about dragging your wallet on are the 1,000 runs... Most of them are 2,000 which really isn't all that limited.

Only found that one in the UK. I only surf a limited number of retailers, so perhaps another member has a line on one over here.

Re: Sold out? Don't think so.

I believe when CW shows a wing sold out, that it has sold out the run to its distributors. Not that you are not able to find them anywhere, so much as a measure of just how popular the distributors expect it to sell. They are all basically alotted out through the distribution of retailers.
If it does go out very fast, it may be an indicator of what the expected popularity of the model will be, but that is always not an absolute. I would wager more as posted above that the smaller runs generally are an automatice quicker sell just because of the size of the run along with the chance it may be a popular piece.

That's right, that's what started the hysteria before. We have to understand that a manufacturer can post an item as sold out before all shipments even reach the distributors then the end retailers.
That being said, if you want it buy it, for the right reasons, not because someone says it is sold out before it even hits the stores.

Re: Sold out? Don't think so.

When CW says sold out, it means the entire production run has been allocated. As stated above, this is a good indication of the anticipated popularity once it hits the street...but is not cast in stone.

I think all of the VF-41 Turkeys are sold out though, at the retailer level...as well as the two VF-84 birds mentioned above and, of course, the Black Bunny.

Re: Sold out? Don't think so.

I'm not familiar with many Online diecast retailers....really only the Mule. Could you pm me where I could find a VF-41? I cancelled my order with the Mule the day he got them....needed the money or Christmas.

Check with Collectible Jets, it comes out to be a pre-order. I would call them to verify if they will recieve any.

If that does not work for you try Perrys he has it in stock. The only thing with Perry is he is asking for a bit more.

Hope this helps.
