Re: Moonlighters A-6E Intruder?

Have ordered today my first 2 MODERN JETS, the A 6 Intruder Moonlighter and the F 14 Sundowner. Now im a little bit confused of what i have done as i normally collect only WW2 planes. But the pictures and the critics here on the forum had allowed me to do this "huge step" into modern militäry planes and jets. I hope the CW models are as good as many reported here in the forum otherwise it was my one and only step into modern militäry.

BTW: Happy New Year Folks

You won't regret it. The Century Wings planes are truly outstanding. I also was collecting the WW2 planes, but took my initial jet plunge buying a Hobby Master F-104, which is also very nice and I heartily recommend. After the F-104, I bought a Century Wings Jolly Rogers F-14 and more recently a Moonlighters A-6E. I also have a CW A-7E on order and will be ordering the F-8. I still collect the WW2 aircraft, but I surely like these CW jets and look forward to many more.

Nice move Daywalker, you may have let the genie out of the bottle......! And you could not have chosen a better manaufacturer to step into the modern military range, Century do it better than most & best of all they are listening to what their customers want and releasing aircraft that will sell well for them.

Got them finally today (F 14 Sundowner and A 6 Moonlighter) and im simply stunned about the quality of the CW models (*looking at the models*) and i cant now wait to get the F 8 Crusader. Only one thing i have noticed on both planes: You cant close the cockpit completely down when you have the pilots in it. Have tried everything but there is always a gap between the cockpit and the plane.
CW for bringing us those models.

Re: Moonlighters A-6E Intruder?

Will the canopies close without the pilots in them? If so, I think you're seating them wrong because the heads of the pilots should be directly underneath the ejection seat handles and shouldn't interfere with the canopy at all. If anything it would be an issue with the ejection handles being too high, not the pilots.

Re: Moonlighters A-6E Intruder?

OK Gang,

With all the positive feedback on the A6E Intruder, I decided to take the leap and purchase the 'Moonlighters' as well. I had to go the Marine Corps route, since I was assigned to MAG-12 and Mag-13 between 78-82. I was really bum'd out that the A4 Skyhawk VMA-214 was cancelled from TFM since it was one of the squadrons that I supported, and it even matched the paint scheme. Hopefully, Century wings will make a A6 Intruder with marking from VMA(AW) 242 'Bats' or VMA(AW) 121 'Green Knights'.

Looking forward to a great piece... Again thanks to all for all the PICS posted from Century Wings... You made it an easy choice to pick !
