Sourcing 1/72 weapons for Century Wings F-14s

Hi - Anybody know where I might be able to buy just the missile sets for Century Wings F-14s. I have the VF-101 Grim Reaper and am looking to buy a set of 4 or 6 Phoenix missile for the Century Wings F-14. Thanks,

I don't think Century Wings offers just missles, however, Hasegawa makes a 1/72 weapons set (Weapons Set III) that includes missles suitable for F-14s. It's a model kit, so you'd have to glue the missles together and paint them yourself.

Just an FYI, if you're going to make your own, shave off the 4 square bumps just aft of the radome. AIM-54C's don't have them.

Thanks. Was hoping to find a source for CW stuff so that I won't have to glue and paint the stuff my self! Guess there isn't one...

Re: Sourcing 1/72 weapons for Century Wings F-14s

Honestly your best bet may be to just buy another CW F-14 or two, and swap weapons around to get one configured how you want. None of them can use all their weapons simultaneously. Having a mis-matched missile or two (paint-wise) was very common for years, could add a bit of interest. While Dragon sells several pre-painted/assembled weapons packs, none have Phoenixes.

Also, none of Century's models are equipped with the pylon adapters to carry 6 at a time, only 4 on the "air to air" ones, or 5 (AFAIK) for the "bombs" ones. And I believe carrying 5 would be unheard of/pointless the way Century has them set up, unless you got a compatible Sparrow-capable pylon to replace the LANTIRN one.

The VF-21 release has the most "useful" weapons/pylons for what you want to do, for it has an all-missile load, but painted in modern colors, like the VF-101 release would use.

You know, I really wish Century would start using optional Gloce pylons....They could even include optional ones with each model. My VF-101 releases left pylon came off when I was tryin to put the Sidewinder on and it was ust a simple tab that just needed to be plugged back in...didn't even need glue and it's perfectly fine. Why not start giving us optional Sparrow/Sidewinder, Sidewinder/Pheonix, or my personal FAV Sidewinder/Sidewinder!!!

Re: Sourcing 1/72 weapons for Century Wings F-14s

I want dual-Sidewinder pylons just because it's so rare many people don't know it's an option. (Though I saw it on a VF-101 F-14B at an airshow) And I really want some Sidewinder/Phoenix ones, to do a 6-Phoenix load. (It's even appropriate for a low-vis D model)

They really should make some of the other pylon options. And more weapons variations. Having only 2 different sets of missiles/pylons isn't enough IMHO for a line that covers 1979 to 2006. (Especially with the "bomb" set being fairly uncommon stuff) We really need a weapons pack, or at least some more glove pylons. GBU-12's, GBU-12's, and GBU-12's....

I always think of the Tomcat as an "Alleycat" with the 4 sidewinder 4 sparrow config. Like it it's just ready to get down and dirty and be a real scrapper with that load.
