Re: Modifications of F-14

I don't know what the aircraft looked like before, but being 1:400 I can imagine. It now looks amazing!

Re: Modifications of F-14

Oops! Sorry guys. I should have clearly stated that the P-2 is a 1/200 scale model.

I don't own any of Aki's 1/400 scale modifications, but I have witnessed the images! The wing / engine / main gear modifications he did to a 1/400 scale Dash 8 is simply stunning. I can't imagine working with something that small - the model itself is only 3 inches long.

When I was a kid I remember seeing a 4 or 5 of these land on the airfield at Kwajelien. Pilots were real nice an gave me a tour of their airplane.

Re: Modifications of F-14

Continued.

The pylons also was removed as they had a horrid installation due to an excessive glue.

Here's another their Tomcat's shot. IMHO, three major (common) issues (on their F-14) can be seen in the pic. The AOA sensor which is installed kinda upward on the nose, Too low positioned seats in the cockpit and the gap between the weapon station which is located next to the intake and the fuselage.

and they've been fixed as this.

Enjoy the pics!

Up-close pics.

Note the landing light.

The inboard main landing gear doors need a modification.....

Note the fuel vent.

Here's my ansewer to David!!

Pilots' heads also are steerable.

Re: Modifications of F-14

Fantastic work with the seats! Did you have to raise the RIO's seat as well?
Can you just 'pull' the pilot's seat out?

Re: Modifications of F-14

Thanks guys. Both seats could not have been removed with my effort. However, as I found the handles on the ejection seat could have been removed easily, I just repositioned them. That's all.....

Yep! They're sitting on the additional spacer which is on the seat.
