Re: whats next after the A-6

I know that'll go over big in the UK, but I really wonder why they'd do the Spey ones when Corgi already did. That requires an entirely different mold than all the others. What we really need (IMHO) are the F-4B, N, and S. The only decent USN one out there is Corgi's J, which still has some issues.

Re: whats next after the A-6

Oh and speaking of Thuds, check out this website. In my opinion this is probably the best commemerative airplane site on the Web. Long live the Glorious Thud, and hats off to the brave Thud drivers who dealt with flak Front and Rear to fly up North.

http://www.burrusspta.org/thud.html
There's all sorts of goodies on that site, including a section where you can make your own Thud markings, as well as numerous clips. The best of all is an interview with legendary Thud Pilot and Mig Killer Karl Richter...who sadly was killed during his second tour in 1967.

This IS the best site dedicated for the Thud enthusiasts and thanks for the link, skysurfer! I agree about legendary pilot Karl Richter - HC "Dogfights" should do one about him and MOH recipient Leo Thorsness as well!

corgi have never released a spey engined phantom only the J and D with a too small nose and poor canopy!

I could swear I saw a Spey Phantom. Oh well. (Regardless, the F-4B/N has far more schemes to do)

No what you saw was Corgi's F-4J(UK) which they did twice, one as a black tailed 74th Squadron Bird, and the other as a light gray double wing tanked version in the same Squaron. This was rather foolish, as they could have done another J variant, with a whole slew of USN and USMC liveries to choose from. Armour, on the other hand did make an attempt from pics I've seen to do a Spey Phantom, both in 1/100 and 1/48. These things are now commanding a premium on Ebay, with even the 1/100 fetching well over 100 USD. The 1/48 Armours I've seen are the 1/48 892 Fleet Air Arm and 1/48 56 squadron sharkmouth in low vis gray. At any rate, I agree that it is a pity that Gemini won't be doing more USN Phantoms yet, but hopefully the mold will be easily changable, and they will be able to swap out pieces to do US versions. I wouldn't mind a 1/72 892 Squadron RN Phantom, though what I'd really like to see are a USAF/Israeli/Iranian F-4E and a 1/72 Showtime 100.

Ah, that was it. The "non-British" UK Phantoms.

Re: whats next after the A-6

gemini would have to produce a complete new fuselage for the F-4J and the armour british phantoms are just F-4J'S with spey nozzle's added not accurate at all.

Re: whats next after the A-6

I generally just ignore Armour completely. For all the money they cost, I still think they make among the most inaccurate diecast jets around. You're paying for size, not quality nor accuracy.
