Re: Pics of VF-101 Grim Reapers

I got my Grim Reapers today and I'm not as satisfied as I was expecting.
The model looks and feels 90% like the FOV 'Black Knights" version.
No opening airbrakes, moving rudder, droping tail hook (Witty's features)...
I don't know weather to keep the Century Wings version or the Witty's......any advice?

despite the non opening airbrakes, and moving rudder and tail hook, in terms of accuracy, it is far superior than Witty's in terms of detail and paint schemes. Not to mention the optional weapon stores and optional gear up/ gear down. I personally never bought any of the Witty Tomcats. the weapons on them are very bland and they just screw up the canopt time and time again. I've got a VF-101 Grim Reapers. If I had a witty's tomcat, i'd definitely swap it for another VF-101 Grim Reaper. But I guess it comes down to your personal preference.

Re: Pics of VF-101 Grim Reapers

I'd say it comes down to do you want one with working parts more like a toy, or do you want one that's more like a model and actually looks like the real thing?

Witty=Toy
Century=Model

Just IMHO. Accuracy-wise, there's no contest. WItty doesn't even have the basic camoflage pattern correct.

...and this is precisely why Century Wings models look so much better...They are models, not glorified toys like some of the other manufacturers put out...That's why whenever I read some member saying something like "wouldn't it be neat if they made it with folding wings?", I just want to slap 'em...
Operating features (especially at 1/72nd scale) almost always come at a sacrifice to accuracy....Let Wal-Mart sell those.

I'm all for optional parts, just not operating ones..

that's because the fov version was the prototype model! and even this is more accurate and better made than the witty's

Re: Pics of VF-101 Grim Reapers

whoa whoa, before you go right ahead and slap me, how about the Gaincorp Su-33? I think it looks great with the wings folded up

You're gonna get a 'slappen' bigtime coz just look at that unsightly "door hinges" on the wings of the Su-33!
