Re: F-14 which one for a new guy's FIRST 1/72 diecast

Do the "launch configuration" models come with a non-compressed front gear part too so that we could display the model on the stand coming in for a landing? Are the engine nozzles open in after burner mode?

Cool Re: F-14 which one for a new guy's FIRST 1/72 diecast

Hi WP_913 and welcome to the magic money disappearing machine forum.
I have the VF-154 "Black Knight" 100 version and I really enjoy looking at it on the mantle. Chacon a son gout. Yesterdayt I received my second Century Wings; the A-6E Intruder, VA-35, "Black Panthers" AJ500, and it's an absolute winner. CW makes great die cast issues and, while they're pricey, they're worth it.

Hi WP,

Welcome to the club! Just know that you are about to embark on a collecting "habit"! It can be very enjoyable but once you start collecting, you may pass a point where you can't stop. Century Wings models are especially addictive models! My personal favorite are the F-14 Black Knights models. You know, this might not be a bad idea for a poll to see what everyone else thinks!?!

Re: F-14 which one for a new guy's FIRST 1/72 diecast

Hey all,

THANKS a million for all of the advice and opinions which I greatly appreciated,,,

So,,, on the way home from work this afternoon I stopped by the hobby shop and picked up a Century Wings F-14 Sundowners and then the clerk showed me the new Century Wings A-6E and I had to get one of those as well, a really beautiful model. Then we were talking about favorite planes of the era, and he showed me a Hobby Master A-4, well had to get one of those as well. So my collecting is off to a roaring start, but will have to wait a while for my next acquisitions. He related that the Century Wings models were setting new standards in the field of diecast 1/72, but also said that Hobby Master was a very close second...

Now if I could only find a super nice 1/72 U-2 and an SR-71 and maybe a Lockheed P-2 and P-3......

Thanks again...

Re: F-14 which one for a new guy's FIRST 1/72 diecast

Wow, I picked up my very first 4 CWs yesterday at a great price at a local hobby shop and the fav of the lot is the ltd ver Black Knights bird. Quite simply the best 1/72 F14 out there at this price point.

My two A6's aren't half bad...the Marines ver is a looker for sure. Will systematically pick up the F14s in this series. Makes the Dragon Warbirds look "poor" in comparison .

Can't wait what these guys will release next - A7's!

Grunt, did you pick up the Moonlighters A-6? That is one I am waiting on. Are they out already or do you live somewhere other than the US where they are available?

Sorry need to clarify, I live in Singapore, and seeing that some areas in the US may not have received the Moonlighters yet. Yep, I got one ofthem Moonlighters and its a beauty for sure...still love my Black Knights 14 more
