YAAWWWNNNNNN.... Will hold out for livery #2 or 3. Gotta be something more exciting. Not bad, not ugly, just not THE ONE.

Re: First CW A-7 to be...

It's been painful not to be able to post this info until CW released it on their website! However, I think this model looks great! Another interesting change is that CW is requiring Minimum advertising prices starting next year. That means all retailers must sell them for the MSRP. Anyways, I'm excited and can't wait for it to come out.

Take Care,
Jeff

Is this legal? I was under the impression that a manufacturer or supplier cannot dictate to a retailer what price he can advertise or sell an item for. I am no expert on this, but I seem to think that you can't do this-- some sort of price-fixing angle to it. The MSRP is supposed to be the "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price". MSRP or not, I am planning on getting one.

Manufacturers can, indeed, dictate to a retailer what price they can advertise a product and it is completely legal. What they can not do is dictate at what price the retailer actually sells the item. Some retailers get around the MSRP advertising requirement by listing the price as "Price too low to advertise. Add item to cart to see our price". Price fixing is about controlling the actual selling price, not the advertised price.

You can also do site discounts and shipping discounts/credits which can help.
As for the design, I was iffy on it but after looking at the close up shots, more incline to make the purchase on it. I would like a green camo livery myself and this one may go to my son who is an avid collector of wing models as well.

Re: First CW A-7 to be...

SkidMark is right, it is not price fixing. Technically a store could sell it for any price they want, just not advertise it that way on their searchable portion of the site. Retailers usually don'thave to sign a formal agreement but if it is violated, that store would probably be shut out from future orders. This solution is mixed. For popular products in other industries like the iPod or Nintendo Wii, it is almost transparent to the customer. As a retailer, it limits flexibility to get rid of crummy models (although the beautiful A-7 probably won't have that problem!) or hold a sale to draw more business to a store. But it also keeps people out of the market who just flood it with rediculously low prices and hurt every retailer without really helping themselves. When retailers do this, they hurt the entire market because they eliminate any semblence of value for a particular model. It's an important balance of keeping prices affordable while still paying the store's bills and making a profit for one's efforts. I guess MSRPs are just one way of doing that. Limiting retailer flexibility? Somewhat... not illegal though...

Anyways, I'm still excited about this A-7. I think it is going to be a quick seller, I've already held one back (unlike the A-6 last flight that I forgot to do so!). With the exception of one problem in their history, Century Wings has consistantly produced high quality models that still impress me everytime I see one. I expect this one to be no different.

LANA pod. Sure didn't expect that. (I think that's what it is, have to go review A-7 pods again)

Either way, I think it's too new to use with a high-vis plane. I don't think any of the A-7 pods were in service until the 80's.

Are the Sidewinders permanently mounted? Can you have just the launch rails on? Can you remove the rails entirely?

Re: First CW A-7 to be...

Century Wings web site says that the "Marauders" reservation already sold out with a 2,500 piece production run! I just pre-ordered mine from Aim Higher Jets. This version looks great!
