Re: A-6E Weapons modification

Can we simply configure the ordinance differently without modifying them? Can the bombs go on the outboard pylons and put either the fuel tanks or missiles on the inboard pylons? Would this set-up be accurate?

yes

Re: A-6E Weapons modification

Thanks smartd - can the missiles go inboard too? The model comes with 2 tanks. One has a slot on the top and the other has a pylon glued on it. The one with the pylon must be the centerline tank. What is the other one for? There are no empty pylons provided.

Missiles can go on the inboard hard points.
Would suppose, that you have a centreline tank and are either missing a tank or got one tank too many.

A6 did not normally fly with asymetrical loading.

I figured out from a previous thread by tripoli and answered by Andrew why there are two different tanks. They are both centerline tanks. One is for use with the display stand and the other is used without it. The model's pylons are apparently not interchangeable between inboard and outboard positions unfortunately. It appears we have to cut the bombs off as Andrew has stated but shouldn't two bombs be removed from each pylon rather than just the one?

Re: A-6E Weapons modification

It looks like we need to remove TWO bombs (not one) per pylon based on that photograph. Do you see what I see? "White" glue is what "Elmers" glue is and can be disolved with water.

One bomb per pylon. I've highlighted in red on the photo the bomb that you could barely see.

And no, the weapon positions aren't customizeable on the Century Wings Intruder

Re: A-6E Weapons modification

A-6's can carry 5 Mk82 bombs on their inboard pylons. Only the forward inboard one must be removed.

Max Mk83 load is 10. (3 outboard x2, 2 inboard x2)

Here's a photo with 24 on the wings, but I think they're Mk81's:

Photo is described as 4th test aircraft armed with 30 Mk 83 GP low drag bombs, six on each pylon.
You can count the load in the photo.

Re: A-6E Weapons modification

I thought the forward inboard bomb was not used.
