Best CW F14 Tomcat

I've looked at all the threads and am pretty confused (more so than usual) as to which is the best/definitive version of the Tomcats released thus far by CW.

I would like to buy ONE and only one to replace the disaster that was my Dragon F14 'Jolly Rogers'.

The best one is ... ?

Depends what armament you like. VF-154 is pretty impressive with all its bombs. The 202/203 are great just because of their position. Otherwise the 200/210 is a great classic i would reckon. VF-21 is not as nice as the others i reckon. All the tomcats are of excellent quality(unlike other brands that keep tweaking as they go along). it'll come down to ur preference of colours and weapons. if u want a D model, VF-101 is coming.

I added a pitot tube to the front of my Dragon VF-103 with a thin probe. makes it look alright to me.

Thanks Andrew, I'll take a closer look at those you've recommended .

Just remember, VF-154 101 and 100 have the exact same weapons loadout and colours. only difference is the modex number.

Oi! What's wrong with your Dragon F14?! Actually, I'm seriously being taken in with the CW Jolly Rogers (200) regardless of the high price relative to the other brands. We've got some hectic marketers on the forums!

Re: Best CW F14 Tomcat

Cardinal, I think that you would need two. One with the air superiority hardware and the other with bombs. I'm thinking of the Grim Reapers as the second.

Got to agree with you Andrew, the VF-154 is really cool with all that ordnance! More deliberation and contemplation required.

A lot of people were complaining about the lack of AoA tube on the nose and i think something other things that i really can't remember. Also, the Dragon has a lot more fiddly bits I must admit and their landing gear isn't straight and simple. But i'm happy with the colours of them. I just added a small thin probe to the nose to make up for the AoA tube. But i still prefer Dragon's over Witty's. can't stand the cockpit frame of witty's.

I didn't have any major problems with the overall look of the Dragon F14 or even the 'fiddly bits' for that matter - the quality on the thing was absolutely atrocious and beyond comprehension (smudged/faded printing and superglue on wings and rudder in more than one place) - an absolute QC disgrace if ever there was one.
