Re: vf-101

And having two GBU-24's up front is still wrong.

Anyways---from what I can see this is a completely accurate F-14D. It beats most plastic model kits in that regard, and blows away any other diecast one. Accuracy-wise, this is a greater jump over the Witty or Dragon ones than the earlier F-14A releases were.

Also---you are seeing open vs closed nozzles. The dark recesses between the petals are only visible when the nozzle is open--when it's closed, you only see the main metallic color, with a small groove between the petals. And you mainly see models with them closed for that reason---it's a lot easier to paint and sculpt that way. Although, I think you generally see the nozzles open when the plane is parked. Here's the best pic I could find quickly of a GE nozzle closed:

Re: vf-101

When should we start seeing these in the USA ?
JP

Hey Starman...not to name any names, but a website has these for pre-order with an expected delivery date of June 2007...Well, maybe I'll give a hint; the name of the site starts with an "F" and rhymes with "buying fool." Which is what I've become with all these new releases

Re: vf-101

i have asked yoshi about a strikeeagle but i am afraid the answer is a no
we are more likely to see classic us navy jets

Great News!! Bring on the Phantom II, Crusader, Intruder, Prowler, Corsair II, Hawkeye(not a jet I know, but would be pretty sweet in 1:72 metal), and dare I say it.........?

THE VIGILANTE!!!!

Not to mention the Skyhawk, Phantom, Cougar, Demon etc......

...which is fine. We need those too!

As for the F-15E, I probably will end up doing a plastic kit version in 1/48. I've kind of given up on diecast for this one...

Re: Strike Eagle. That's what I'm doing----Revell 1/48 kit. About the only way to get an F-15E that's actually an *E*, and not "a D painted dark grey".

...exactly what I meant.

I still hope some day some brand will have the courage to tackle a Strike Eagle in diecast, even though it will be a challenge to mould the true E-model conformal tanks with all the integral weapons stations on them (plus you need the LANTIN pods on there, but that part should be easy).

My initial thought about CW doing it is that they seem to be doing a great job with weapons options with their "Bombcats," so they'd be a natural for the F-15E...
