Re: Help needed!! Century Wings Jolly Rogers #200

....hmmmm, this is true..... I'll tell ya what, you just take care of the shipping charge out here and I'll pick up the return tab!.....

mercy, what have I done?....

that would be great!

thanks.

anyway, i would like to ask, regarding the fixed wing version of the century wings f-14 models, they have the kneeling front gear right?

is there anyway to acquire only the kneeling front gear? other then actually getting the whole fixed wing version? i don't mind paying for it actually.

even though i like the kneeling front gear very much, i would give it a miss due to the fixed wings.

anyone willing to let go only the kneeling front gear ot know how i could acquire it other then purchasing the whole model?

lim yong kiat, I'm not sure why you'd want to display an F-14 with the "kneeling front gear" (front langing gear strut compressed) and the wings in any other position than full forward and slats/flaps down. This kind of all goes together, as the reason for "kneeling" the airplane is to grab the catapult shuttle prior to launch, and that would mean the wings had better be in the aforementioned configuration (otherwise that crew will feel really weird coming off the bow off that carrier).

Just curious...

Bye bye aeroplane eh, shame on you Skunky picking on a susceptible newbie like that. Dont worry Lim-Yong-Kiat we will take care of you. It takes time to be a battle hardened member of the hanger, I have the scars to prove it. May I suggest you invest in a P40 perhaps or a Corgi Mustang?

Compared to detail everywhere else, does anyone really notice the fitting of the landing gear doors if its like 2mm out of place? its bascially in the shadows unless u turn it upside down. So long as it sits right and is unnoticeable right?

well thats my opinion anyway :P

as i only have a small book shelve to display my models, including my diecast model cars, my space are quite limited.

that is why i would wanna get a "kneeling front gear" and a normal version F-14, so that i could choose to display it in launch mode or keep it's wings closed to save space.

hey thanks!

i think i really do need to take some time to blend into the hanger.

i'm currently not thinking of investing in a P40 or a Corgi Mustang yet, as i would like to collect more of my favourite Tomcats first before moving on to others.

thanks for your suggestion though

Re: Help needed!! Century Wings Jolly Rogers #200

F-14's at museums often have their wings swept back in the kneeling position. Sometimes it is intentional, but sometimes the hydraulics leak/fail over the years and the nosegear collapses.

OK, understand, although technically you'd need the flaps and slats to retract/extend as well to fully accomplish what you are trying to do. Those would be in the "down" position" while ready for launch. Good luck with your collecting. Sorry to hear you had problems, I have the "kneeling" version at home and had no problems with mine (which of course is displayed gear down).
