Re: Century F-14A VF-154 NF101

Do you think adding layer upon layer of paint will make it a tighter fit for those pieces? I am reluctant to glue as I love to have the options of wheels up or down.

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

Not unless you have a brand of paint that really adheres to the surface of whatever you're painting. Otherwise the paint will peel within minutes and you'll be back to square one

Wow ...I guess am one of the lucky ones...I'll knock on wood.....
I have had no problems at all with my F-14.
Everything fits nice and perfect.

My VF-84 had perfectly fitting parts, gear and weapons. But it looks from reading the last few posts as if CW has some quality control issues. For the price of the models, they ought to do better than that...

Mine fit great. In fact it was something that I took note of. Mine did have a little resistance, but then they snapped right into place.

Thumbs up Re: Century F-14A VF-154 NF101

My nose gear-up piece won't even stay in. It is too small to fit the space and falls out, so my N101 is cursed to be wheels-down until I find a way to fix it.

In such a case, You may proceed as follows:

1. put a layer of instant glue onto the front of the nose gear box.

2. Now DO NOT put the box into the plane, FIRST WAIT until the glue has HARDENDED completely.

3. Then try to fit the box in. If it doesn´t fit anymore now, then take fine sanding paper and remove the hardened instant glue a bit.

4. repeat step 3 until the box fits.

in other words: just increase the friction resistance with hardened instant glue.

Re: Century F-14A VF-154 NF101

For mine, I just used poster tack. The stuff that you use to hang up posters without putting holes in the wall. In fact I think that stuff is good multi-purpose stuff if you need to do a quick fix to something but don't want to leave any perminant marks.

Re: Century F-14A VF-154 NF101

My VF-84 forward canopy piece won't fit properly... The leftside tab won't go into its slot. As such, the pice sticks out a bit and the main canopy piece won't close completely. Anyone else have this problem?
