| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?
I do not see any issues with the Witty and I did not mention Dragon. And as for Crap, I did not mention that either. So in the UK you get a deal on Century , good for you guys. Here the little bastards are almost double what I can get a Witty for, I have quite a few Witty Jets and they are very well done for there lower price. Flaps ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? I have the FOV Black Knights version. I bought it after the Century Wings planes were announced. I'm certain the Century Wings are better, but I personally didn't think they were enough better to justify the price. The cost difference let me buy another model in addition to the F-14. Those who complain about the price should sit an F-14 next to a World War II medium bomber. They are about the same size and the bomber likely retails for the same price or more. Realistically the Century Wings product is fairly priced and the cheaper F-14s are bargins if the quality isn't a huge concern for you. The one model that is tempting is the launch ready versions- if I had a carrier deck diorama planned I'd have to get one of those. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? the witty f14 is the worst model they have produced its innacurate and toylike. i gave them loads of info to get it right and they blew it. over here they cost exactly the same as the century f14 which is far superior in accuracy, build and paint finish. some of you guy's are spoilt for choices and prices | |||||||||||||

| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? I have to say i have all the Tomcat makes in 1:72nd and Century Wings is the Best of the Best for the F-14's. Fov F-14 is 2nd best followed by the Revell Jolly Roger F-14. Witty needs to fix a few things on their F-14 if they want to stay in the game. Dragon's Jolly Rogers is ok.... i'm a Jolly Rogers fan so i will get all of their Corsairs and jets. I will get some of Century Wings other paint schemes as well. IMHO they are worth the money. | Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? I just got in a few of the Witty Colorfull Cat Aggressor F-14's & I have to say are pretty far from being ! Infact they look great. whats up Zed were you not the bigest Witty pundit on MH1, what happened? As far as the price of the models in the US it is important to this topic since the base of my question was what makes century better than FOV (or anybody for that matter) that I should ask my US buyers to shell out the extra cash. You see when I have other models of the same aircaft in stock that are also very nice & Im aksing people to shell out more $$$ for something that looks slightly better, I should have a good reason for it. At least a better one than "well a few rivets are in the right places that are not on the others". We have a tiny shop & while we do get a good number of hardcore collectors I also get alot of new collectors or people who just walk in off the street. While the century is a fine model & prolly the best F-14 on the market, will it matter when it's sitting on the shelf next to a FOV thats costs half as much? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? Lack of gun vents is the first glaringly obviouse thing to me. The first release also didn't even have the distinctive oval on the front windscreen. I'll have to go back and look at the pictures of them to see the other things....structure wise. The paint is a whole other issue too. I'll let David take that when he stops in. Chris | |||||||||||||

| The Mule advises that my F-14, Black Knights, in on board a UPS aircraft as I write this. I had a good chat with the guy at TFM, definitely on the ball, and I said I was buying the Century issue to compare it to the Franklin issue, in 1:48, of the same plane. His comment echos mine: It's HUGE. Too big, in fact, to set up in a LR or Den display. So now I wait, with baited breath, for the Queen of my hanger fleet arrive. Long may she rule. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different? All depends on how important accuracy is to you. To an F-14 fanatic like me, who can't stand what Witty did to it, it's well worth the money. I mean, Witty can't even get the right engines on some of their F-14's, the biggest most obvious difference there is. | |||||||||||||
