Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?

I would much rather put out the extra bread for one Century Tomcat than to have two or even a dozen FOVs...JP's comparison pics leave nothing further to be considered as far as I'm concerned...Even Stevie Wonder could plainly see the differences between the two are more than just trivial.....

I've made the mistake before of settling for 2nd best just to save myself a few bucks, and in almost every case I ended up eventually getting the better one because it just drove me nuts to know a better example existed out there. So in the long run it ended up costing me more than if I just would have gotten the best to begin with...Well...I guess that's about all I've got to say about that.

Couldn't agree with you more Skunky - don't settle for second best if you can show a little patience and save the extra money to buy what you'll eventually end up buying anyway .

(As for your location ... )

Thumbs up Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?

See that's what l was talking about. Thoroughly convincing arguments! The fog is lifting for me, I don't have choice now given your input to have a closer look at these. Ultimately as previously stated your wallet will govern your purchase. Thanks for all the great input. Appreciated.

Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?

Yeah FOV and Century are certianly the two best brands out there right now. In fact I am utterly surprised that Cyber-hobby hasn't considered making exclusive planes from either one of these two brands. You'd think it would be a slam dunk. I mean, CH hasn't exactly made any headway with Dragon stuff within the last year or so, so what's wrong with picking up another license or two? They need to recover from all of that lost slack somehow.

C-H, while being a de jure separate entity from Dragon is de facto one and the same since from what I've heard Dragon and Cyber-Hobby owners are brothers. C-H made its name by releasing limited runs of 1:6 Figures produced by Dragon. Most of those are highly sought after. Right now, C-H is more into selling of exclusive kits with built up armor and aircraft models being of peripheral interest.

Sergey

Wait, they're brothers in the figurative sense (Like they are affiliates) or in the literal sense?

Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?

Wait, they're brothers in the figurative sense (Like they are affiliates) or in the literal sense?

LITERAL The original purpose of cyber-hobby was to create a retail and limited distribution network for serious collector's items That is to say, a lot of stuff like figures of German High Command Generals or other known Nazi war machine personalities like say Piper or Wittmann were sold exclusively through Cyber Hobby because Dragon's owner was concerned that giving those items wider distribution would bring its company into disrepute.

In his mind it was OK to sell a figure of generic Waffen SS soldier to a wider audience, but Waffen SS soldier with name attached to him might invite an unwanted attention of US or European authorities or worse, public outcry.

A case to a point, when a couple of years back Iraqi insurgents or most likely someone pulling a prank pretending to be Iraqi insurgents posted pictures on the web claiming that such and such organization is holding a US Soldier prisoner, Dragon revamped its main site for period of time making WWII German stuff not so easy to find and going as far as removing company slogan, "Always Steps Ahead". Why, you might ask? Because it was quickly discovered that the fake soldier in those pics was in fact a Dragon 1:6 US Military Figure (Cory or Cody or something). Dragon didn't want the general public who became interested in Dragon for a fleeting moment to know its core money-making niche.

Unfortunately, the results of such suspect policy is that German Aces planes and Armor models will continue to get released exclusively through Cyber-Hobby. Can't really judge the Dragon too harshly though, after Plan B Toys Call of Duty German figures recall.

Sergey

Understandable, but if they can see that nothings happened to Corgi and the others why such drastic action? It sounds like a legitimate reason for one scenario is being used as cover for their desire to make the full retail margin on potentially high demand items.

That's just my own speculation.

Thumbs down Re: Century Wings & FOV what makes them different?

All the bitching about Corgi prices, and you guys would pay $60.00 for a single jet??????

I wouold rather have a couple of non perfect FOV or better yet a couple of pretty darn nice Wittys, than a single one of these overpriced jets.

No interest here at all, in Century Wings.
