Reason: Found Info
I always thought the Sunday Punchers were the last and also the first squadron to operate the A-6. To the library! OK...Here it is in the Operational History of the Grumman A-6: "VA-75 made the final carrier cruise fly off on 19 December, 1996 and altough officially disestablished, final carrier ops were conducted with former squadron aircraft and personnel off the Virginia Capes on 12 March, 1997." It appears that VA-115 had transitioned to the F-18C on the 30 September, 1996. VA-115 WAS the first fleet F-18E squadron though. Oh, and they operated from NAF Atsugi, which is probably the real reason CW is doing this scheme. See, CW should just bite the bullet and do the BLUE BLASTERS...For the love, what's it going to take??? ![]() They could even do the one with the invasion stripes that participated in the ceremonies for the 50th anniversary of D-Day. Update 2: VA-115 was the LAST operational loss of the A-6...Seems one was shot down by a Japanese ship during exercises on 3 June, 1996. Both crew members were rescued.

| Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available! Oooh, low-vis. (with high-vis tail). Not *exactly* what I wanted, but a nice scheme that I know. Will probably pick it up. As for squadron colors-----black and insignia blue tails are so common they basically "override" any assigned squadron color. Every squadron uses them, all the time. | |||||||||||||

Thanks for your welcome, JP! The ship in the box art has TRAM though,... CW has another mould? I believe TRAM cannot add on their current mould....

| Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available! In my opinion, the first two models are terrific. But......they did'nt see combat duty when assigned to the Nimitz. I'm awaiting an A-6 that carries a VA or VMC designation that assigned it to Nam. How does the Moonlighters fare in this category.? | |||||||||||||

| Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available! Is it possible to get the outboard bombs/pylons on the Moonlighters A-6 extra??? I got the Black Panthers A-6, but really want my A-6 to be packing all bombs.. I will probably get the Moonlighters version as this was always the way I saw an A-6, as a Bomber. Or maybe I can work out a trade??? | |||||||||||||

The trade would be missiles for bombs - right?
