Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

I'd be really pissed off if every CW thread was closed because of this ongoing dispute that moves from one CW thread to another

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

I'm taking the upper road and not firing the last shot, as well to leaving the door open for a more positive track.

As for the moonlighters, I think its one of the more colorful tail designs that were posted, but I believe there are quite a few more schemes out there that I am looking forward to possibley seeing. I though the F-8 thread showed an incredible potential of liveries to produced. If thats the next way to go, CW might think about doing like squadrons that have worked side by side with some of the posted schemes there. It would keep a bit of the continuity you see with the Nimitz aircraft switching over to the other types of aircraft to be produced.

Landslide and Tripoli,

I agree with you. I think this model is pretty sweet looking as well and I was excited today to add it as a preorder on my site. What a great livery. I agree about not closing the thread. I e-mailed Harry to ask him not to do that again. I guess I'm a huge laissez faire type of guy. We are mostly adults on this site, we will just stop talking about the topic when we feel like it and people get tired of it.

Take Care,
Jeff

PS- How many messages do I have to do until I gain another stripe?!?

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

Few Crusader schemes were better than VF-84's. But we need the F-8 *C* for that, which is never ever done as a model, despite the C and very-similar D having the best schemes. The E and J are the ones always modeled. (Despite the fact that a J takes a good amount of new molding to make from a E, while C and D are very easy to do from each other)

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

I just pre-ordered one from Jeff (jjgilz) at Aim Higher Jets. After being so pleased with AJ-500, I can't wait for this one! Is the vertical stabilizer supposed to be black or dark blue? Does anyone have any photos of the real aircraft they could share?

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

Photos won't help much----you can get high quality, recent pics of current planes with Insignia blue tails, that you'd swear were black. Old, not-so good photos---there's very little chance of correctly identifying Insignia blue from black.

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

The Moonlighters' squadron patch has a black background, which would lead me to believe that black is correct. Also, each squadron in a MAG is assigned a color based on its order in the air group. For example, black is the color assigned to the sixth squadron of the air group. However, IIRC, VMA-332 was the second squadron in MAG-14 out of Cherry Point.

Hmmm...the mystery deepens.....or not

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

Thanks for the photo TopHat! The crescent moon on the model may be the wrong color based on this photo. It looks like it should be yellow on top and orange on the bottom rather than orange on top and red on the bottom.

Re: new A-6 Moonlighters photos available!

Thanks for the pic. BTW, regarding the pic, the lower frames of the windshield is in black? It looks so in the pic and the model has the same feature.

FYI, the next their Intruder seems to be A-6E VA-115 Eagles NF 1996 the last flight and released in Dec.
