Re: If the CW Grim Reapers is a show bird than whats up with this real GM F-14 in FL?

Color me confused -- but man, my CW Grim Reaper looks SWEEET with the loadout so I'm leaving it on.

I'm with you, Pappy.....I don't see getting all wound up over whether or not a particular loadout was ever actually flown on a particular bird while it was wearing a particular scheme or not. It's still an F-14, so it could....Configure it any which way you like....I'll sound the alarm if I see the accuracy police headed your way.

To paraphrase the late Bob Ross (the Happy Painter) "It's your happy little F-14...You can put any happy damn little loadout you want on it and fly it into your happy little tree that lives in your happy little forest if you want..."

.....and now you can color it "yours"

Would like to point out that VF-101 is the training squadron, and used just about every weapon the F-14 could. The show birds only showed up at airshows on the weekends during the summer. The other 300+ days a year they earned their keep like the low-vis planes of the squadron. They just tended to only ever be photographed during demos on the weekends.

Also, I have to agree that AD103 was probably repainted just prior to delivery to Florida. Lots of F-14s were repainted just before going to museums.

There seems to be a 'wing root' gap - will they be replaced ...?

Yes, CW is willing to help out in this situation, but only one wing will be replaced.

You mean you want 2 wings replaced when only 1 wing is bad? I'm kidding - Tripoli, how goes the CW replacement dare I ask?

Here's pretty typical load for a VF-101 plane. Note the lack of the starboard stub pylon. TER's would be very common, but this one doesn't have any and Century doesn't make them. ACMI pods and training AIM-9's also very common.
