Re: Century F-14 Jolly Roger

Zed---due to the D model's unique antenna arrangement, a new fuselage mold would be needed. And with Century having already shown two different fuselages to get the right antennas just for the VF-84 and 154 A-models, it's clear that "correct antenna arrangement" is something they do/care about--otherwise they would have used the same A-model fuselage for both 84 and 154 like any other manufacturer would. (Getting the antenna arrangements right is BIG with me, as it is a key identifying characteristic of the F-14 models, and is actually my main way of telling B's from D's---if you can't see the chinpod/seats---antenna pattern is the best way)

And if you get really, really, really nitpicky---D models have a unique starboard V.stab---I doubt Century will do that, but it's possible...

Re: Century F-14 Jolly Roger

Panther, were you planning on the Grim Reaper as an Easter gift?....

Actually, yes. I have a college tuition I have to worry about, and although I would like to buy something like this for myself, I don't have the luxury of owning one unless it's a gift from somebody

Re: Century F-14 Jolly Roger

Zed, would you know if the F-14D will come with the bombs and LANTIRN pod that are included in the VF-154 F-14A?

Re: Century F-14 Jolly Roger

Now that's not necessarily the smartest decision. As Martin, MH-1 Sponsor said, with WW2 planes bright liveries sell, with modern jets the low vis ones sell better. To me this is because WW2 collections are pilot driven, whilst modern collections seem to prefer more generic planes. Since most of us know the names of WW-2 aviators better than their more modern counterparts, this doesn't surprise me.

I already have the VF-84 birds, which look great and are a fine tribute to the 1970s era Tomcat. I don't see myself making another Century purchase till they come out with a true low vis B or D with all the mud moving goodies the VF-154 bird comes with. I don't see myself getting either VF-154 Tomcat either, since I already have the FOV CAG bird. What I'd like to see is a true low vis VF-32 or VF-103 plane, or perhaps a low vis VF-2 or VF-11 Super Tom. These CAG birds, while looking great, aren't necessarily representative of the true population of a carrier deck.

Also, if you want to go with bright colors, bring on the Iranian Ali Cat.
