Re: The Official Begging for a Crusader Thread

Those shots bring up a question...If CW did make a Crusader, what stores would you like to see included? AIM-9s for sure, but what about A-G stores? I for one would hope that if CW decides to make one, and offers ground ordinance, that the wing pylons would be removable for those who want a straight A-A loadout.

Re: The Official Begging for a Crusader Thread

Simple. 6x Mk81's on each wing. That's THE Crusader air-ground loadout. It's exactly what HM includes (incorrectly) on their A-10's. Single Mk84's are possible, and look neat, but are very rare. Mk117's are more common, but that has got to be the ugliest bomb ever made.

Also, rockets for the fuselage rails. (The AIM-9/bomb combo in the pics above seems unusual, normally F-8's were pretty purely A-A or A-G afaik)

Most importantly, I want some F-8C's and D's, which don't even have wing pylons to worry about. (there were apparently some field-modified C's, but generally only E's and up have pylons)

I would be removing them whether they were removable or not.

Re: The Official Begging for a Crusader Thread

Very true. The F-8 is the last GUNfighter. It looks best when empty, or just 1 Sidewinder on each side, like the early ones had.
