Re: Century Wings: Wings of Heros Pics

I think it would have been nice if Century could have provided two nose gear assemblies with the launch version (extended and compressed)..It would have added a bit more display versatility to it.

Re: Century Wings: Wings of Heros Pics

What is the likelyhood that we'll see this squadron (in this particular Deco) from Century Wings

Unfortunately,Panther, probably zero to none since the "casual buyer" only wants pretty CAG (type) birds all the time....

I'm sick of pretty birds. I want to see some tired, worn, dirty workhorses..Unfortunately the only way that's going to happen is to go back to building them myself... Either that or roll over in bed and turn on the light.

But this squadron, was the only F-14 squadron to ever win the RADM Clarence Wade McClusky award! (that's a prestigious award thats given to strike fighters in the navy as a way of recognizing successful bombers) I would hope that at least Century Wings would have the sense to focus more on the reputations of certian squadrons, and not just what looks pretty. Considering that jets like these don't cater to kids. besides any veteran of the United States Navy will tell you, that as soon as you enter a combat zone, your first and only priority is to splash the enemy targets, not to flash pretty designs at them.

Re: Century Wings: Wings of Heros Pics

Preachin' to the choir, Panther...Draggin's been threatening to put out a VF-41 "Libyan Shooter" since July of '05 but it's never materialized. I wouldn't want it now anyway since their F-14s seem to be vastly inferior to CW.

Re: Century Wings: Wings of Heros Pics

Well I think that it is time we start a pettition on this matter. Because by wanting to build and paint only the "pretty birds", companies have not only the collectors wants and needs, but they have also have restricted themselves to what they can build from both a decorative, and a historical standpoint. I mean think about it? How old are most of the Die-Cast collectors here? Maybe 25-35 years of age? Many of us have probably never even saw the very first tomcats roll out of the hanger for their publicity photo. Most of us were probably unaware of the F14's existance until Top Gun. And of course there may be people on this very forum who actually pursuit information about the F-14 tomcat up till the day that it was decommisioned, as well as other who even served in the United States Navy and had the chance to fly an F-14. (By the way, try telling a former pilot who has come home from years of intense fighhting in a war, especially ones who have witnessed their own comrades fall, or be taken prisoner, that his squadron will never be recognized for their valliant efforts on his home soil, because from a marketing standpoint, it's just not important enough) I've never been in the navy, and still that makes my blood boil.

So it is time to recognize these men and women, and there planes. And not just for the F-14, but for all planes and all squadrons.

So who is with me? If the idea for a petition takes here, I'll start one up after my post count is high enough to start a new thread.
