Re: Iranian F-14 ???

I don't think the Iranian F-14 is very popular in Japan though

Re: Iranian F-14 ???

I think that you'll see one soon, but it'll likely come from Witty Wings.

Re: Iranian F-14 ???

It would be particularly sad if diecast models of Iranian F14s were deemed 'politically incorrect' given the popularity of Axis WWII models that could also be deemed as falling in such a category ...

Right on.

I don't particularly like the Iranians these days (their government in any case), but I'd sure buy an Iranian F-14 (or F-4, F-5, etc...) without hesitation. I buy Soviet era MiGs, Sukhois, and such even though at one time I could have been called to fight them for real (pre-1990), and I believe the Soviet Union was indeed an evil empire. Historical significance is what counts in my collection, though, not politics.

Re: Iranian F-14 ???

I agree, it is a love of aviation that fuels my collecting. I think it may have an impact with a few on the pc issue, but for aviation and history, I see no reason why not to see them produced.

Yep. Anyone who feels the need to be PC about collecting diecast warbirds needs to find a different hobby.

Angry Re: Iranian F-14 ???

I'll buy one or two for sure. What's so politically wrong with it? After all both Tamiya and Fujimi released Ali-Cats in plastic formats. AND as Osprey has released some books on the IIRAF, what wrong with a die cast plane?

Re: Iranian F-14 ???

Iranian Tomcats are the real TOP GUNs with their unmatched by US NAVY victories so they deserve to be made by Century Wings. At last, but not at least they have very smart camo.

Sure they are. Primarily because they fought the "eagles" of Iraqi Air Force. At one point, in the early-eighties, Iraqis kicked out Soviet AF advisers and replaced them with Indians because the Soviets were too harsh in training by making Iraqis fly in bad weather, close to the ground, and heaven forbid actually insisting that fighter aircraft is weapon and not high flying equivalent of a sports car.

No way Iranian pilots very as good as US Navy / US Air Force / US Marines ones at any point in time.

Regards,

Sergey

Unmatched victories which can't be confirmed (because the Iranians and Iraqis would never exagerate statistics, right?) and because Iraqi pilots are such formidable enemies...

I've said it before, I'll say it again. CW models are the "wings of heroes". I'd rather they keep it that way. Just one man's .02
