Turkeys get replaced with Tomcats

I was checking out the CW website news section and noticed that they are offering to replace any Tomcats with the "persistent gap problem". They have instructions to make arrangements through their exclusive North American distributor (The Flying Mule). My two Tomcats don't have this problem thankfully. They sure do stand by their product! I didn't realize The Flying Mule was their exclusive distributor either. I wonder why CWs are available at other retailers.

He's the exclusive distributor, but he isn't the exclusive retailer. He is the one that imports them and sells to the retail shops. He is the exclusive importer might be a better way to put it.

Re: Turkeys get replaced with Tomcats

Think I could get two aircraft for the one I paid almost triple for to import and then found was made from two different aircraft pieced together?

Send it in and ask for a black Vandy One for your troubles. If nothing else they might be curious to see the strange error yours has.

Re: Turkeys get replaced with Tomcats

I contacted Flying Mule about this, and they're sending me 2 new CWs to replace mine. I'll be getting the 210 Jolly Rogers though, instead of the 200.
They'll even ship me the prepaid postage via UPS.

Can't hurt to give the Flying Mule an e-mail on this then, I would be happy to exchange it out for two new birds.

Re: Turkeys get replaced with Tomcats

Well, that's a no go with the official US distributor and CW, stuck with this turkey. Got my first three CW through Flying Mule as well. Dang, maybe I should have mentioned it did have the split wing gap as well. Hoped e-mailing them the two threads on it woudl give them a better understanding of what the cost and QC issues were but...

"Hello Jeff:

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, since you did not originally order
from us, we kindly ask that you contact the retailer you purchased this item
from to receive a replacement.

Flying Mule Sales

They did e-mail me back again offering to help if I could not get a reply from the original purchaser (did so, noted on the threads and e-mail), so looks like at least I have an offer for a replacement cover the cost of shipping inthe US, much better than the international I was offered through CW directly, so I could get one for it. But still after paying so much, I may be better off going the eBay route for the "mutant unique model sale". I love these models, but I do feel so burned with this particular purchase.

Here're the images Flying Mule sent me (I think CWs send the pictures to FM) to clarify which gap is elligible for replacement. Although they're a bit confusing to me, as I'm not sure why the last image is deemed OK.

Re: Turkeys get replaced with Tomcats

Yep, got the latest reply from The Flying Mule on this:
"Hello Jeff:

Thank you for your email. Just to clarify what steps you have made:

1. You contacted your retailer Flying Tigers for the return and received no reply to date.
2. You then contacted the UK distributor Tiger Hobbies for a replacement and have not received a reply to date.
3. Since neither the UK retailer or the UK distributor has replied to you inquiries, you contacted Century Wings directly.
4. Century Wings will replace the item for you, but you will have to pay for shipping both ways.

Again, if you would like us to take care of the return for you, will need to return the item to us at your expense and we will send you the replacement for the cost of shipping. One last thing, the first 2 Jolly Rogers are sold out and we on have the latest one they produced, #203 and #210. Please let us know what you would like to do.

Flying Mule Sales "

Problem on this end is I paid $ 135 for the extra cost of getting an out of stock one at the US to British exchange and shipping it here. Now I have to pay for the shipping to the US Distributor and back for a new model, add 12 to 17 dollars and for the super CW customer service will have invested $ 145-150 for one new model.

OK, a bit fustrated on this one, spent alot of money and time afterwards trying to get something done on this.

I give up on trying to go through customer service on this one. I had hoped with the story above and the other CW QC resolution, I might get some help. EBay I have to say seems to be the way to go. I do have to say though The Flying Mule is kind enough to answer back on this at least with a bit of dialog. It is not their problem with the sale, but I was hoping being the US distributor helping with the other issue, they might be able to help me on this one.
