Re: Wildcat is out!

These pics are not mine, but they are just as good as the ones I was going to take. The drop tanks are optional, so is the landing gear position. There is no choice for canopy open. I still say this is a great model, and it needed done.

Re: Wildcat is out!

The model could be wrong, or that photo might have been a publicity photo. Just like Boyington never flew Lucybelle into combat.

Re: Wildcat is out!

Yes i remember the No. 86 Boyington flew.....
Or never flew i should say..
It might be just that to for publicity shots.
That's why they say the USAAF fighter pilots had it better during the war.
They kept their planes up to par and had a great ground crew.
But this Foss Wildcat rocks.

Re: Wildcat is out!

I plan to pick up the Foss model as well, looks great & it's the one I like best out of the three.
It also reminds me of the one they have on display at the Wardbird Museum in Titusville.
My wife took me there one day, here is a pic of that Wildcat.

Re: Wildcat is out!

I hav been to that museum as well. It is great. The day I was there we were going to watch the Space shuttle launch for the return to space after the Columbia. While we were in there, there were a bunch of older gentle talking about building something back in their time. Turns out they were a bunch of the engineers from grumman that built the LEM.
