Got my 1st Carousel 1

Well, I finally did it and got one of the Flyboys Planes, When I 1st opened it I was not too impressed. I think the 1/48 Corgis are way way nicer. But as sit and play with it, the thing is growing on me and heck It was $38.00, I guess a good price for these.

Anyone else have these and like or dislike em ?

Re: Got my 1st Carousel 1

Biggie ..The flyboys planes are the lowest grade C1 biplanes they made..
Try get the regular C1 biplanes from them....
Outstanding set of biplanes they have too.
I have a few of the Flyboys biplanes and like them ok
Take a look at these....

Werner Voss Fokker Dr.1

George Preddy was......Just the greatest fighter pilot who ever squinted through a gunsight.
He was a complete fighter pilot.......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

Re: Got my 1st Carousel 1

Starman, I have the same aircraft, and though I knew it was great, I don't think I had paid enough attention to all the detail on it until you posted the "blown-up" pics! (what is WRONG with me!)

Re: Got my 1st Carousel 1

Biggie,

I have one of the Flyboy's Nieuports and am not really that impressed. I guess I
prefer historical models. As Starman noted, check out the regular biplanes, they
cost more, but they are indeed awesome, with lots of great detail.

Re: Got my 1st Carousel 1

Their Fokker does have some nice detail to it.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Tires back then were gray, not black. C1 correctly depicts them.

JP did a nice job capturing the detail on this model, but one really has to see it up close, as you say Cappy. The gun barrels are photo-etched metal, the rigging is awesome, the engine and propellor are finely detailed, and the cockpit is nicely detailed. Plus, all the non fly boys Fokkers (and the Nieuport 11s) are beautifully painted with outstanding fit -- no fit issues.

Correct... and they are rubber. Perhaps it is the picture with the glare on the tires that make them look "platicky" in the picture... but in the flesh, they look as real as the prop.

The tires are the correct color and the shine your seeing is from the flash when i took the picture.
