Re: C1 P-36 in 2008!

It reminds me of an Armour / Franklin Mint model with a nicer cockpit.

... and more subtle panel lines, more subtle rivet fasteners, a nicer finish, with (I'll bet) a more detailed engine; it will also have positionable gear that are EASY to detach and replace, yes no stand, but with the plethora of stands now out there, innovative collectors will figure a way to display it in flight; oh, least I forget, it will have a removable pilot figure. Oh... it will also come with a detailed history. And how can I forget it will not have exposed screw heads! So don't despair, 'slide. I fully expect it to be leaps and bounds above FM models.

btw... weren't you one of those who found that HM model with the hideous join lines across the wings and in the nose area leading into the intake, with a plugged up intake so the model looks like it has a congested cold... weren't you one of those who found the model more than satisfactory? Well... then this one should be no problem at all!

Re: C1 P-36 in 2008!

Close up pictures definitely a bit of a dissappointment. Cowling seam and not being able to display canopy open were the two big distractors for me. Intially wanted to get one of each, but for now just going with one. Kind of wish HM had done this one.

Oh... I'm sure HM would have put some warts on it somewhere.

Do you mean the HM Phantom? It's pretty good (especially for 1/72 scale). The scale does have its limitations. C1 can do better and has in the past (of course I still gotta get me one)!

Oh - right - the HM Panther! I don't remember praising that one but if I did I apologize! I had wanted a model of the Panther for a long time. The Panther reminds me of an Armour / Franklin Mint model too! It needs work.

Re: C1 P-36 in 2008!

Ouch!...I stand corrected! Look what I found that I said about the Panther many months ago:

"I gotta tell ya guys...this model looks way better than most of the FM/As out there. As far as 1/48 scale, I'd say it is in the top 10% of them."

That must have been before I received mine. Don't get me wrong - it is a nice model. It's just not THAT nice. Elmer is right for the most part. I do love the markings though.
Regarding the P-36, I guess I've just come to expect perfection from C1 and I must remember that just doesn't exist. I was too harsh to suggest that any HM or C1 model compares to an FM/A model. Now I'll be in trouble with FM/A fans!

Could be true, but price would be much more agreeable. That and a cockpit that could be displayed in the open position.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Ara is too funny!

However, now that you bring the Phantom up, 'slide, I will dare say it looks like it has a cold too.
