Agreed--all the Dora's, including the historically most important of the the three--the D9, are must haves. If I were limited to just one, it would be the D13.

Just 2: FW 190D-11 and D-13. These 2 are real beauties. Most likely I'll get the D-9 to complete the triumvirate.

Re: How many Carousel 1 planes do you own?

I received my first two Carousel 1's yesterday, but it turned out they weren't exactly what I was expecting! I had ordered the Baracca Nieuport and the Udet Dr.1, and my patience was tried when Customs impounded them. That had finally been sorted this week, and I was really excited to finally get my hands on these now very expensive planes. But when I opened the box, the Dr.1 had unexpectedly turned into Gotz's Fw 190D-13! That was a bit of a surprise, but in the end I think I was pretty lucky to get the Dora that I like the most in this mixup (I the real thing at the Museum of Flight last summer, hugely impressive piece of kit). I got in touch with the seller over this and it turned out he still had the Dr.1, so that will be joining these two real soon.

The Focke is a truly great model, what excellent detail and paint. The Nieuport is also hugely impressive, and I love the scheme on this. There were some unexpected snags, though. Many have commented on C1's excellent quality control, but mine came with two loose rigging wires - I managed to put them back safely after some fiddling. The paint on the pilot wasn't great either, with bare plastic showing through his helmet. Because he looked a bit sorry for himself anyway I decided to twiddle him out, but it turned out the guys in paint had missed a bit of the plane's paintwork underneath his arm. These are by no means crippling errors, and I was able to rectify most of it myself. It does show that those biplanes can be a bit fragile, though. Nevertheless, this really is a new star of the collection, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the Dr.1. But has anyone replaced their pilots with one that looks a bit less like an inflatable love doll? I'd be grateful for any suggestions you might have!

I had some quality control issues with my first and only (not that I do not want more) Carousel 1 as well. My Gotz D13 came with broken landing gear (that I had to glue back together, I'm waiting for a replacement from C1, it's supposed to be on its way) and again a pitot tube was missing!! That's 2 models I received brand new in box that were missing pitot tubes (my 1/32 Corgi Barkhorn didn't have one either)!!!!!!! C1 offered to send new landing gear, but would not give me a pitot tube, they told me to ship it back to the store that sold it to me. I chose to keep it and try to figure out where to get a piece to stand in for the pitot tube.

Anyone have a plastic 1/48 pitot tube from a Fw 190 Dora plastic model kit I can get a hold of?

Soon to be adding Udet's Fokker Tripe-as soon as HM's F3F comes into stock at Glen's Racer Den.
