Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

Not sure how well designed the 109 gear is -- most of mine sag or don't sit quite right....

Really? I have one, and sold one, but both were/are solid on the gear. I thought this was an awesome feature of this model, and I have never heard of design flaws or QC issues with the gear. What about the rest of you?

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

Forgot all about Elmer's stand. It was a great job, only trouble is finding extra Corgi stands ( I have none and have never seen any for sale anywhere).

Elmer's post also reminded me about how impolite I was. Louie, much thanks for the interview. I own several of the WW 2 Carousels and will continue to buy them with or without the stands (would just prefer them over those huge bases).

You are most welcome. My interest with Frank and his goodies is selfish and strictly WW1 though. I am sorry I cannot help you other guys out with the WW2. I do not collect larger scale WW2 stuff. I must admit the HM 1/32 SBD is tempting......

I actually got the idea from JP.

If you bought the WWII stuff, you would actually be helping Frank out! So what say you, Louie?? I have both WWI and WWII C1 models. You buy some WWII stuff, and I will add seconds or thirds of each mold (I have at least one or more castings from each mold--except the Nieuport 17, and I stand ready to purchase the first non-flyboys casting of this mold). If you think the Fokker is nice, wait til you behold Dora in the flesh!

I,too, have one of each of the C1 WWII molds and also three Fokkers. I am waiting for a Nieuport livery that I like though. Come on Louie - buy some of C1's WWII stuff too so we can get a decent 1/48 P-39, P-51D, and P-61 made! Didn't you get an EI Mustang or HM Buffalo yet? I bought the WWI models based on Louie's recommendation and am glad I did. I think I've done my part for the cause!

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

I have two, a Bf109 and a FW190 and am interested in several allied models. But if the new molds are going to be WWI I am afraid (well, not really afráid) I won't be buying any.

Can we try with real bullets now?

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

So Frank has to sell 3000 units per model just to break even. Humm? Assuming that these planes retail for $70 apiece and approximately half of that goes to the marketer, then the break even point per model is about $100,000-110,000 in income to Carousel. As I recall, Frank stated that the mold costs for one of his 1:48th scale models was $100,000. Humm? That suggests to me that switching to a smaller scale- like 1:72 and reducing the number of sub-molds--or separate parts--- could cut the break even point to about $45,000, or thereabouts. Couple this with a selection of planes not already done to death by everyone else and a retail price of $40-45 per unit for, hopefully, a quality product, and perhaps, a new business plan could emerge. I wonder how many of us would jump at the chance to buy a Carousel Mig-15, F-105, SB2C or IL-2M in 1:72nd scale---especially if a stand was included?

Hmmm, that's interesting to hear, Pappy. I recently got my Galland 109E out to be photograph, and I really didn't notice anything unusual on mine?
