Exclamation Frankie Says "relax" !

O.K. I have to make this quick because my 15 month old son is destroying something in the next room.....

I again spoke to the president of Carousel 1 today. His name is Frank and he is an exttremely knowledgable and friendly if not practical man.
He says he certainly thinks we will see new planes in 2008. He confirmed there are 2 new molds with completed tooling but is trying to cut through red tape in China to see ANYTHING NEW released before years end. He will be following the forum soon not to look at your want lists but to see how much following his models have. He wants to sell more so he can recover his production costs and give us MORE of the planes we hold dear.
He said he was catching some flak from the "experts" among buyers about the yellow under the nose of Gallands 109 and how you can glimpse camo paint under it.
He explains it is meant to be that way. It was usually done in the field with a water based paint hence the transparency. Trust him,the smallest little details are well researched and thought through to production.
Frank says fear not, he wants to give us many more models, but unless the ones he made get sold it is going to be tough. Molds are in the tens of thousands of $$$$. The cost of zinc in China is skyrocketing in support of the automotive industry door handle needs. It sounds as if we will eventually see Nungessors Nieuport 17 (Hooray!) but not yet .
He confirms as least 2 new molds/toolings but cannot give further details.
He thanks us all for our business and continued support of C1 and to not lose faith and for heaven's sake(my words) don't stop buying his planes.
He explained he has to sell 3000 models just to break even. Wow, what a tough industry and we take it for granted. In my honest opinion his planes are so good I would pay pay more if I had to to get the best made. There are no better and unless you own one you cannot dispute this claim,or can you?
We talked about Spads,Sopwiths, and Fokker DVII's, but that is not a hint there are NO PROMISES.
Will we see models this year? Probably.
Will there be re-paints of existing planes? "yes"
"Thanks for your interest and support of our models" Frank says.
I said all we want to know is if the wizard behind the curtain is busy making things happen......
"yes" he replied.
Dust your shelves, sell off your mediocre stuff, better models will be here. This year? Maybe, maybe not. There was no clear cut answer, but I know he is on it.
RELAX,enjoy your collections but for heaven's sake BUY MORE CAROUSEL BI-PLANES FOLKS. Look on-line compare them to Corgi you will see the difference right away and be changed(if not ruined) forever by the stunning detail and quality of workmanship.
RELAX,go shopping, buy Carousel 1/48 bi-planes while they still exist on the open market.

Will-do Louie - Carousel 1 deserve all the support that we can give them . Their product is excellent and would be even better with display stands ...

For a minute there I thought you were making reference to that 80's very nasty song about ejaculation.

Yeah, I would buy more Carousel 1 warbirds from the Great War! I hope they'll make the Brisfit!

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

I'm sorry to say this, but most of the comments by Carousel's president suggest to me that they have gone into a holding pattern. I hope I am wrong, but these are not words to inspire confidence that more of this company's excellent product is really on the way---or even in the works.

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

Shame there is no site that has any of their projected projects. It would be kind of nice to have at least some small idea of potential future releases.

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

Please allow me to clarify.....
He has 2 NEW toolings completed. the dies are made the money is invested.
He is currently in negotiations with producers in China to get the prices stabilized because of the zinc shortages and costs.
basically he is saying if you want more you need to buy more,
They are not a behemoth like Corgi, and make superior models.
I hope this helps.
This shopuld not discourage buying models that have been produced thus far agreed?

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

Louie, thanks for the update, though I wish we could get a clue as to those 2 new molds. I am one of those
"experts" Mr. Dalton refered to in your conversation--I was freaked out by the yellow paint on Galland's 109
until he explained to me the rationale. He was very gracious and I appreciate that he took the time to answer
my e-mail. I love C1, and as discussed on another thread, I own 10. I am having a hard time waiting for new
models. When they arrive it will be a glorious day.

Re: Frankie Says "relax" !

I've done my part -- I've got six WW2 C1 models now (not going to "go there" with the WWI stuff... not going down that slippery slope, no sir!)... quite curious about the two molds, be they WWI or II.

I might be interested in another Dora repaint...
