Re: Thinking about Flyboy Set???

I just checked out the pictures of the movie planes. There isn't any rigging shown on the Nieuports. Apparently these models are missing some of the details present in the two I have. So in essence these models are $40 versions of a Carousel1 & don't fully duplicate the level of excellence found in the initial offerings.

I'm quoting Tri, and restating that I noticed that too, wanted to make sure no one missed it who might be buying them. They are NOT up to the same standards.

Upon further investigation, I noticed the Nieuports I have are # 11 Bebes. The planes in the movies are depicted as Nieuport 17s. This is offered for discussion, as I assume the 17s would (& should) have rigging. I still think these are 2 levels of product.

Yes, the 17's would also have rigging. You assume correctly!

I would just like to point out that I have not yet given my official endorsement to this line of models, and pending the results of my legal inquiries, direct that any and all use of my name must cease and desist as of this moment!

Thumbs up Re: Thinking about Flyboy Set???

I think we need to wait and see if you are super picky, but based on current info the companies product is very well done, so I would assume these are going to be very good for there price.

Also many times these early photos are of prototypes not yet 100% complete.

I decided to order the set, save the money per plane and hope for the best. I am not looking for an investment anyway, just think it is a good idea to support the idea of diecast airplane replicas in general and a movie about airplanes as a bonus, I am so happy.

The planes look great and will make a nice display.

So, to use Corgi as an example it's AA as opposed to Warbirds.

Re: Thinking about Flyboy Set???

Yeah Tri there are SOOOOOO many possibilities w/ WW I subjects. I picked up some French model mags from the sale table @ my local hobby shop. Cant read a lick of it BUT some great images. One article is all on Tripes, lots of paint schemes for an imaginative model builder! I did my DML/Dragon kit in an overall medium blue w/ white tail (pardon I forget the pilots name ). Fairly simple to paint and different!

It would be really cool if they did one with the camo streakings just like the real Fokker Dr.1's.
