Re: Price v. Value

I share this concern. Sadly, I think it is only a matter of time before C1 announces it is getting out of the model aviation arena. I hope I am wrong.

Unfortunately, I think you are right, which will be a huge loss for the 1/48 market...
I think I can say that Carousel's downfall is (1) the refusal to listen to its collecting base and provide stands and (2) its refusal to allow retailers to sell these lower than MSRP when stores really need to move them off the shelves..

Re: Price v. Value

How strange it is that one of the manufacturers of the best 1/48 scale models available (the others being EI and HM) might quit. Is Armour that successful?

Re: Price v. Value

all conjecture and rumors. Let's not start this wildfire. C1 is still around changing factories, planning re-paints and making some new tooling too. No rumors of a shut down are valid.

Re: Price v. Value

If a shut-down rumor persists,THAT ought to clean off the shelves!!!! Seriously ,I think I'm edgy because of the delay re. any announcements from Frank @ Carousel... tween war A/C is an area that may be a sucsessful area to concentrate on,as well as WWI,leave the Spits,Stangs,& 109s for the other folks. Regards, Mike

Re: Price v. Value

I agree Mike if C1 would do the most popular WW1 stuff and also pre-war Boeings,Curtisses and Grummans they could corner that end of the market. Corgi is not in the same class with them and there are those of us willing to pay more for better models.

Re: Price v. Value

I am going to be the odd man out here. My only interest is WW 2 aircraft. The Carousel D's are the highlights of my collection and would like to see them do the Fw 190 A - F's and the Ta 152. There are plenty of great paint schemes for the various aces that I would love to add to my collection. Any of the Soviet aircraft (Yak's 3-9, Lavochkins La 5-7 and of course the Il-2)would also be a welcome addition. The Macchi 202 and 205's were also pretty decent aircraft that are pretty much ignored in diecast. I don't care how great they are, I will never be adding any pre-war aircraft to my shelves.

I started the conjecture on this thread, and that was all it was: conjecture... based on few 2007 releases, no new molds, and no new castings for the P-40, Nieuport 11, Nieuport 17, and Me109. Additionally, stock is available everywhere for all of their models, including their finest: Fw 190s, Boyington Tomahawk. I just don't see how they can stay in business with only 2-4 releases of each mold. Seems to me like a company in shutdown mode. Of course, current momentum can change for 2008. I hope so. But Louie is right, this is all conjecture which I did not intend to be morphed into rumor.

Re: Price v. Value

After getting my first Carousel WWI model I do think that they are worth the money. I'm hoping them getting out of the aircraft market is purely speculation because I'm hoping for at the very least them coming out with a Camel and a SPAD.
