Re: So, what's next for Carousel 1?

Can you reveal your sources JP?

Very interesting. I am sure the two new types with finished tooling that Mr. Dalton mentioned will soon start a speculation frenzy. Thanks for posting JP!

Hope it's a Corsair and a Fw-190.

Re: So, what's next for Carousel 1?

Two new toolings??? I wonder if they'll be "tooling" a stand to go with these???
I am interested to see what Carousel will produce next but I am disappointed that we'll have to wait so long to see them in person..

I have tried many times to email Carousel, but their contact info doesn't work.. Glad to hear you got thru JP...

I have also tried to contact Carousel via e-mail and I also found it didn't work. JP, can you share the "good" e-mail address? Perhaps if we all start flooding Carousel with e-mail requests for stands instead of display bases, we may get our wish.

Yes, these would be nice (but they've already done the FW-190D...). But based on Carousel's past releases, I would guess one (or both) of the two releases might be WW I types. I for one would not be disappointed if that were the case, as long as they don't duplicate the expected late-2007 Corgi releases. Let's say a Sopwith Camel and a Fokker D. VII, now that would be great.

Re: So, what's next for Carousel 1?

I would like them to make one of these next : F8F, Curtis H75, P63, Tempest V/II, Fiat CR42.

I'm not even suggesting that it will compare with a HM product but one of the planes on your wishlist -the Fiat CR-42- is scheduled to be released by DeAgostini in 1:72 scale and will probably pop up on ebay in the near future. Even though its going to have major quality issues I plan to jump all over this plane and others like the HS-123, I-15, Fiat CR-32 and two seaplanes-the "Duck" and the Japanese "Pete"-from the same source rather than waiting for the diecast biggies to do them. Of course, I will have to redo most or all of these planes but it will probably be worth the effort.

Re: So, what's next for Carousel 1?

I was reading through a reference book on Corsairs last night, and it occured to me that C1 (or any other 1:48 diecast manufacturer) might be able to get several variants from a well thought out Corsair mold. For example, the F4U-1 and F4U-2 (both birdcage variants with the F4U-2 being the nightfighter variant) might both be produced from the same mold; after all, C1 was very creative in adapting its Dora mold for three variants. It might even be possible to get a birdcage mold adapted for F4U-1A and F4U1D teardrop canopies. Regardless, there are scads of liveries available for birdcage Corsair variants: USN, USMC, RN/FAA in several different camo possibilities. Seems to me a 1:48 Birdcage Corsair would be a winner.

Yes, I would love for C1 to continue doing "movie tie-in merchandise" like they did for "Flyboys", only this time do the other fighter a/c types like MVR's Albatross (there are lots of different schemes/liveries for such a classic fighter a/c) and a Gotha bomber from the upcoming movie 'The Red Baron'.

The MvR Albatros is being offered by Corgi already, unless it is one they cancelled.

Then Carousel can/should do the other Albatross schemes then. I would like the bare wood finish one seen on the TRB movie trailer.
