Re: Carousel 1 to make a FW190D9 !

I think I'm required by law to buy Red 4.

Myself included... I already have it pre-ordered. I have the Galland and it is superb. I can't wait for the Doras. I only hope they aren't too good or else I'll soon find myself out of space and out of cash. I just surpassed the 100 model mark, have 7 in boxes on my shelf with 5 more arriving in the next few days.

I love/hate this hobby!

Re: Carousel 1 to make a FW190D9 !

I've run out of space and am starting to get really worried - how many is too much?

(My pre-orders haven't even arrived yet and are in a holding pattern all planning to land at once, with consequences that are likely to be both unpleasant and unpredictable - not to mention a combination of joy and stress! ).

Now, now, Cardinal. I hear land is cheap and available in your neck of the woods. You could offer to open a wing to display your fellow members' overstock, no?

Some interesting information on "Rot 4" (apparently a FW190D-11 not a D9 ) can be found at:http://home.att.net/~jv44/rot_3_scrap.htm

For more information on the Wurger Staffel also see:

While I'm not an expert on this I believe the difference between the two was the motor and radio which would make the external appearances pretty similar. Either way, I love the scheme and am ecstatic to have Carousel release a Dora.

Usually, the only visible differences was the different shape of the supercharger intakes..

Upon further review I have found a few items of note. Firstly, Carousel 1 says item 7142 is a 190D-11 piloted by Charlie Karl Heinz-Hoffman, JG26, May, 1945 not part of the JV-44 Wurger squadron. However, in researching my books on JG-26 they never received D-11s only D-9s. Additionally, Hoffman apparently was never a member of JV-44 either from the records I have searched. Add to that the red/white underside of this aircraft was rather unique to the Wurger squadron and I believe it is likely a marketing error. Hoffman flew with the JV-44 Wurger squadron, Rot 4 was a D-11 and Carousel 1 notes the aircraft as a D-11 so I think in the final equation it will all work out. Now, we'll have to wait and see if the nuances of the differences are captured.

Whew! Feel free to fire away
