Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

OK, guys, I done the dirty deed.

CA 6142 Folker D-1 Voss

CA 7122 Nieuport 11 Baracca

I'm looking forward to the Baracca Nieuport and the black stallion. Ferrari adopted the black horse and a very close friend of mine owned a number of Enzio's toys. BTW, a 1973 Ferrari Daytona would hit 60 MPH in 1st, about 4.1 seconds, and scare the hell out-of-driver at 150 mph. I know, I was there. Merry Christmas and may Santa fill your stocking with the die cast of your fondest dreams.

I've got both of these and they are magnificent. You won't be dissapointed!

Yeah, what's up with that, Mike? Have you undergone some...hhmmm... shall we say, "radical surgery" recently?

Looks good, in any event.

Yes, and as I understand it he is just waiting on approval from admin to have his user name changed to michaela2007

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

I received two new C1 WW1 biplanes (Red Baron Fokker Triplane and Baracca Nieuport 11) recently and had the opportunity to take them out of their boxes today. As others have posted on the forum these items are truly exceptional examples of the diecast makers craft and are absolutely superb in virtually every respect.

Detail, finish and rigging are beautiful and the models are works of art. For the first time ever with a C1 model though, I had to fix some minor finish issues - the 'unpainted effect' engine cowl on the Nieuport 11 had some rough edges from the casting on the front that detracted from the rest of the model and required some light 'buffing' with Tamiya 1000 'wet' abrasive paper and a subsequent application of clear matte model varnish. Happy to report that the result is perfection! .

The one major complaint that I have though is the size of the C1 biplane boxes - they are ridiculously large and cost a fortune to ship internationally (approx. $45-$49 for 2 or $26 each). C1 need to learn from HM the art of making smaller boxes, thereby spurring further international sales due to reduced shipping/freight costs .

This is a terrific suggestion, Cardo. But box size doesn't seem to be the only factor for international shipping. When you read posts on the UK forum, it seems many folks in Europe shy away from C1's models, simply because of high shipping costs. I wonder if C1 has made attempts to expand its international reach to move more models? And if not, why not? And if so, why can't they do it? Time for Louie to call up Frank again. ANYTHING to get C1 going again!
