Louie, I'm with you 100%. Great post. I want more, many more WW I planes in 1/48, produced with C1 quality. I have their Voss Dr.1 and Baracca Nieuport, plus 2 x FW-190Ds, a P-40, a Bf-109, and a Wildcat all from C1. I love them, and don't mind paying the price for that level of quality. I 'm happy to hear they will concentrate on producing moulds not produced by others (although if they wanted to do a P-51D or F-4U, that wouldn't be a disappointment). My suggestion to them: 1/48 Hawker Typhoon (and/or Tempest) and the P-39; and in WW I era, same as Louie said.

A 1/48 Hawker Typhoon with rockets (& invasion stripes) would be a sure-fire best seller - they would make a fortune on such a diecast that would be a perfect complement for the HobbyMaster Spitfires .

Yeah verily, it would make one heck of an impressive model in that scale. And yes, rockets please!

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

I'm with you guys on the 1/48th Typhoon with rockets! And how about a 1/48th "doodle bug" so that together with the HM Spitfire Mk.XIV we'll have a very nice display combo!

I think this is on everyones wish list, but the question is, would you buy more than one???
E.I. was considering doing a Typhoon, but lack of variety and liveries will make it a tough seller, with all the differences between the Typhoon and the Tempest are too much to try and use one for both..

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

If any of you are reading this and have considered getting at least one Carousel 1 plane be it WW1 or WW2 I challenge you to see if you can find a better model.

Great post Louie! Kudos for issuing this challenge which I second. I own eight C1 models including WWI and WWII. They are superb and all worth the price.

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

Thanks guys. I wish I had asked about WW2 stuff but I am sorry I no longer collect 1/48 WW2 planes. I have been tempted but I will stay the course. The Corsair would be a very good candidate and IMHO opinion is really deserving of a company like C1's level of detail. Can you imagine a glossy, dark blue one with folding wings!?!
He even said how much he would like to see a Fokker Eindecker done or a DeHavilland both WW1 planes. I think he is still feeling the interest of WW1 models out and consumer reaction. WE are the driving force. We have the power to get more models if collectively we continue to drive the market. Life is short I want to enjoy every moment. I want better diecast for my money. I am tired of settling (but still do so under certain conditions) and I can't sleep knowing there are better versions of anything I own. These models may be all I leave behind one day so I don't want to be accused of having poor taste. In all seriousness though C1 blows my mind under close scrutiny.

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

WE are the driving force. We have the power to get more models if collectively we continue to drive the market.

For several months, I have suspected that C1 is in a hold game with its aircraft models, waiting... until the inventory of its released models decreases. How long will it wait? This is the $69.99 question (pun on price intended). I hope the wait will not be much longer, but I suspect it will be longer than any of us 1:48 afficianados wish.

I wonder if the Flyboys models paid off for C1? The movie did not appear to be a big hit, and I suspect many collectors do not want the models without the full detail (i.e. rigging) offered on the premier WWI models. So... other than dramatically lower prices, how does the company move this stock?

Regarding the 190Ds, and the AVG Tomahawk, I am a bit surprised to see stock everywhere one looks. These are among the best 1:48 diecast models available, with low runs.

I am hoping that HM will give the 1:48 market some momentum and excitement with the upcoming release of its Spits. If so, this may provide the impetus for companies such as C1 and EI to produce more 1:48 aircraft models. Although I like HM's F2A, there has been little in the 1:48 aircraft market to really excite me since the release of C1's 190D-13 and Udet Dr.I. Momentum and growth in 1:48 is sloooowwww. I just hope growth isn't so slow that EI and C1 withers on the vine.

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

Louie, a Fokker Eindecker and a DeHavilland DH 2 would be GREAT. Would LOVE to see the rigging on both of these models!

Re: A Chat With The President Of Carousel 1

Thanks for taking the time to post that. I have two 1/48 biplanes right now, but am looking to expand. I wasn't even really aware of C1 until your post, so now I have a target.
