Thumbs up Flexidisplay stands for Carousel planes?

After doing some research I found some stands which may fit the bill for getting our Carousel birds in flight. I ordered two Flexidisplay stands, one with 6 inch rods and the other with 4 inch (they also make a 2 inch), which arrived this evening. They come unassembled, but assembly is easy with only a screwdriver being necessary. The quality appears to be excellent and they were well packaged. The acrylic is crystal clear. Each display rod has a rubber tip which appears to provide enough friction to keep the model from slipping. The rods can also be adjusted, and are interchangeable, to display the model in different flight attitudes.

So what do you think?

Re: Flexidisplay stands for Carousel planes?

Interesting enough, but I'll pass on using these . My favourite stands are those used by Eagles International ...

(Perhaps they'll one day make some generic versions with a universal fitting/adapter.)

One sheep to rule them all ...

$20 each? Ouch! Pretty bad when the stand costs almost as much as the model itself (well, OK, if you use them for Caroussels, I guess the ratio is more in the model's favor, but still...).

Yeah, its not so bad if you can use their 40% off coupon every once in a while, then your only looking about $12.00 each..

Re: Flexidisplay stands for Carousel planes?

I have 2 of the 6" ones and 2 of the 4" ones and they work great with the 1/32 or 1/48 models.
The stands can't hold much weight is the problem the 6" stand can hold about 3 lbs which is ok for a 1/32 plastic or 1/48 Carousel diecast plane.
The only thing that may bother me is it does not have a solid grip on the planes like the Corgi stands or EI stands.
But that rubber little tip on there does hold it pretty good it seems.
I have a 6" one holding up my Red Baron Fokker Dr1 on another thread in Completed builds in the plastic models area.

Re: Flexidisplay stands for Carousel planes?

I've never cared much for these stands...They seem to overpower the subject, and my eye tends to focus more on the stand itself, rather than the model it's supporting. Too many arms going off in all different directions. Aesthetically (for me anyway) an aircraft model should be supported at one point only, and the stand should "blend in" with the model with a thin, aerodynamic look to it.

I guess my one and only Carousel will just remain firmly grounded for now anyway.

I think I'm with you here, Skunky, but I guess I might try one just to see what the effect is in real life. Sometimes pictures can be misleading.

I do agree with your "aircraft stand philosophy." But when there is no known alternative...

Re: Flexidisplay stands for Carousel planes?

Hi Pdx: I ordered mine direct from the manufacturer (Lost & Found Toys - I hope that's ok to post Mods - if not, please edit that out with a note to PM me for that info).
